The Insight has been rather inconsequential aside from being the first hybrid to market here and having the highest official fuel economy numbers. More of a good marketing ploy than anything else. I think that has had alot to do with the car's continued existance to this point. The big news in the article as far as I'm concerned is the planned introduction of Honda diesel engines in North America. How about a diesel CRV? |

How many years was it out?
I have yet to see one on the road, at a dealership or in a showroom. And thank godness for that! |

Your heart will stop beating when you see that and wonder how could Honda design that. |

I seen them on the road a few times. Plus there's that guy with the crappy Insight that was here some time ago. Who knows how much he ended up getting for his car on Ebay? |

There are two in Victoria... a silver one and a green one, I've seen each a couple of times. Ugly, impractical, and expensive... but iirc Honda designed and sold the Insight to prove that high fuel economy could be done, not to make money.
I like the sound of the diesel in the 06 Euro Civic... give us something like that, please! |

They still kept the Insight in production long after it was a viable vehicle (with the Civic costing about the same and offering more practicality) for one reason... to be able to say we make the most fuel efficient passenger car for sale in North America
and they took a $6000 hit on every damn one they sold for the past 7 years... |

Plus, I"d figure that by having a few Hybrids in the line up, it helped their CARB ratings too, eh? |

A diesel anything from Honda would be a good idea to bring over here IMO. A friend of mine's father almost got one. He ended up with a Prius because it had two more doors |

From what I can tell, the track record of the Insight was not nearly as good as the Prius so it's probably for the best.
The Prius on the other, I'm starting to see it everywhere. For example, I see way more Prius's than Camry Solara's in Toronto. |

That's the way it should be IMO. The Prius makes much more sense as a car than the Solara. |
