This car is like the chicken and egg. Which came first the Buick Lucerne or the Cadillacs DTS. This is very quick way to loose 20-40 grand in a year. I seen lots of Cadillacs less than 2-3 years old that cost 50 odd new, fetching no more than 10-12 grand used.
I cant help felling that you\\\'ve been fooled in to over paying for a Buick Lucerne with some fancy Interior. They also handle like boat at sea.
Let me see I know what would have BMW, Audi, Lexus.
These Caddy just can\\\'t even come close to these cars in terms of quarlity and resale value.
I think these motors scream old lady with blue hair coming. .

I was at a caddy dealer last week and asked the dealer how this car was selling, he told me it was selling very well - I didn't believe him b/c I simply don't see them on the road very often - he also said they are the ultimate luxury machine, I told him maybe for someone in their 80's, don't understand why anyone would drop $70k on one of these |

I don't understand the engine options, 2 V8' with only a 16HP split? Then they mate either to a 4 speed auto? Wow.
Sounds like my GM product in my laneway, it's a 2005 and was just redesigned yet it's ugly as sin and has all the wonder tech and groundbreaking features of a 1986 Caravan....
I hope you've got positive stuff to say about this monster of a blue hair's dream machine. |

I wanted to rent one a while back for a business trip. I got a Town Car instead.....I am interested in how it drives....not because I want to purchase one, but to see if it's suitable for long highway journeys.

They are definitely great highway cars. I do see quite a few DTS on the road. Someone who likes these cars can find good 2 to 4 year old bargains and save lots of money instead of buying new.. |

The 2004/2005 Devilles are very old school Cadillac ... the 2006 is a very different story ... ok probably |

The 16HP difference is only part of the change the gear ratio's are different as well on these 2 engines. Having owned Caddies for many years now i will say there is nothing like riding in one of these on a long trip. These are very comfortable cars and very well built as well. Some of them come with thier own diagnostic systems in them also which a helps a smart owner maintain the car a lot cheaper as well. The gas milage should be very good on the highway as well. |

Grr!!! Nobody needs a large car like that. If people have an oversized ego and want one of these, then unfortunately there's no way to stop them yet but I can't put up with the bullcrap rationalization that they need one. Nobody needs something like this, it's 100% pure want. |

I have to disagree with this comment, in fact I'd say the caddy's that we had were definetly not the most comfy cars for a long trip, our lexus is better and my infiniti before that was more comfortable..although the caddy did have a nice northstar engine but that's about it (the ones we owned (2 STS's) were duds and always in the shop) |

To me it looks like the front and back end were reworked to look like the other Caddy's. I wonder if the doors could be swapped from a previous Deville and the new DTS. |

I had one on a weekend rental awhile back and it was a piece of garbage. Sure there were plenty of bells and whistles - including heated seats for rear passengers, and heated steering wheel, not to mention full memory settings for everything from radio stations to seat and steering wheel position, at the push of a single button. Even with so much convenience, this is still a very bad car. Caddie's are still for old people with lots of money or American government limo usage (because it would be bad press to drive a real car like an Audi A8, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, or some other oppulent upper-echelon car).
