The Modding season has began!
« on: May 15, 2006, 06:59:59 pm »
Last year I did a series of posts on my mods.....
1) Painted Calipers
2) New Wheels
3) Button for garage door opener

This year I go more hard core!
Saner sway adjustable front sway bar, 90% - 150% stiffer than stock to tame rear end lift on corner exit.

Tein RA Coilovers with 10kg/mm spring rates front and back and adjustable rebound and compression 16ways for handling fun.

T1R 70mm Exhaust for weight savings, this should shave off 30lbs from the bottom of the car and give me more "sound"

Well the coils you won't see, the sway bar will be completely hidden, I'll get pics of the exhaust when it is on though.

It has been raining here and will rain all week :(

Are you using the coilovers to lower your ride height, or just for handling?  Either way, I've no doubt you'll love them.  :)

I'm using it to raise my ride height and for handling.  I have springs right now and my ride height is too low, I'm down to 5" ground clearance, I'll probably raise it 1/2 an inch or so.

Looks great, the modding season sure is in full swing.

Is it easy for you to adjust the (rear) coil overs once installed?

Easy to adjust front and rear, but have to remove the wheels.

Hey Wing, last year in AutoX when you had just the springs done, were you in the modded class?  I've noticed here that you are given 'freebie mods' for exhaust, intake and shocks, but springs bump you up.

We run a different classing system in Ottawa that is moocho simpler.

A,B,C,D

That is all, my car starts as an A Class car which means I can mod it unlimitedly for free basically and still be in A class.  But it also means I compete with Vipers and Z06's and 911's etc etc if they ever show up.

In regionals and nationals (which I may do this year), I would be in BSP which is B Stree prepared, Springs are 3 points right away and you are allowed 5 points in SP before you have to go into SS.

It gets very complicated, intake is free, cat-back exhaust is free, many other things are points, sway bar is 1 point, coils are 3 points that leaves me with 1 to play with which would be my passenger seat taken out.  R compounds on stock wheels are free in SP and SS classes but in Stock they are worth 1 point I believe.

Wow, this is the first time I've ever heard of a suspension mod to raise the ride height of a road car.  8)

Unpimp da auto    ;D  :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:
