I also like this better that the Honda Fit. I remember seeing the fit at car show. Looked inside and said yuck and moved on very quickly.
This Versa looks promising. Nice interior and the test say its quite quiet and comfortable. Like to give a CVT transmission a try.
What scares me is Renault's affect on reliability and also the futher impact of it being built in Mexico. Being bulit there has not proven to be good for cars.
We can't make such verdict based on what we know way back when Renault was here, a Honda/Nisssan/Toyota of that era was not much better either. I remember Honda's in the early 80's eating camshafts left and right and auto transmissions would self destruct before 40,000km. And of course we all know Barrie's Honda disintegrated in 9 months flat

Our version will be built in Mexico for the first time. One of the things I liked about the X-Trail was that it was from the same assembly plant in Japan that had produced so many X-Trails in other parts of the world that were getting good reviews. I kinda wonder if the Versa build quality will be in line with the Tiida.
Damn, good job on changing the name for North America.
As I'm always considering possibilities to replace the EL, the MT or CVT Versa might be a low-cost alternative. Could be an all-Nissan family by next year. Who knows? |

I don't know where it has been built, but the reliability/quality reputation has been iffy at best. |

Good to have more competition for the Fit and Yaris. Not for me, but some will like it. Nissan MUST bring a new Sentra to market and replace that POS they're still flogging. Major market goof. |

New Sentra is coming in the fall I think. It looks a bit like a scaled down Altima. What will be interesting to see is how much the new Sentra will compete with the Versa. |

Disagree, styling cues from the Nissan family, yes. Toyotas look like Toyotas, Hyundais look like Hyundais, Mercedes, Audi, BMW etc etc. So what's the big deal? |

You're entitled to your opinion, I think the new Sentra is very attractive and modern, it will be the most advance car in this segment. As far as being around too long, true, 6 years instead of 5. |

Did not notice any mention of sunroof coming with any of the trim levels. I hope one is avaiable.
Hope Nissan puts panoramic sunroof like in X-trail.
With that this car may be just what I am looking for. Now if I can just forget about it being built in Mexico and get over my fear of buying car in 1st year of production.

The Sentra has been built there for quite a while. Looking at the Sentra reliability history might give some idea about teething problems with the Versa. Ford Fusion is built in Mexico in the same factory that originally built the Focus, and had so many problems. But with those cars I don't really have a problem with them being built in Mexico as much as I do with them being built by Ford.  |
