2007 Toyota Camry SE V6

Remember those commercials? "This isn't your father's Olds", Toyota could rehash that old GM campaign for their all new for 2007 Camry.  This certainly is not your father's Camry, although he would enjoy driving it just as much if not more than the old one and so could the rest of the family.  This new Camry features a much sleeker fascia and a sportier profile than the outgoing model which frankly looked like a turtle's shell on wheels as the rear end drooped down past the rear wheels.  When is the last time you have done a double take on the road for a Camry?

This car looks fabulous.
This seems to be a good start in the handling department. Is there an easy way to disable stability/traction control?
Can you post a picture of the part of the back seat that folds?
I wonder how many times people who travel with children use the split folding seats in sedans. I've yet to do that with my son in the car. Without him I have done it only twice in 1.5 years I have my car (2002 Toyota Corolla) while I was moving.

This is a very, very good and good looking effort from Toyota. I HAVE done double takes at this car, and your review is right to focus on this.

The inside door handle design is very BMW-esque.

The SE is quite the car. If only the V6 had a manual  :)

I personally won't do it, others have mentioned the desire to do it, so I asked. With the kind of power this car has on Front Wheels, I won't turn it off.

Thanks for posting the pictures for me, I have resized them to fit in the blogs.

There is no easy way to disable the traction control, there is no button.  Perhaps it is similar to a lexus with the brake brake gas gas up down left right, nintendo idea.  The traction control though is fairly unintrusive you can chirp / scream the tires and it does not cut throttle timing like the old systems, I believe it uses a combination of ABS and DBW throttle reduction.

The folding trunk area on some sedans is so small they might as well just be ski-pass-thru's.

The Camry is very nice all dressed in black.  This new car just puts the Sonata (it just caught up to the big boys in the segment with the latest car) back a few steps....again.

We like the looks of the new Camry, the wife said it kinda look like the Millenia (sideview, the Hybrid TV commercial). The rear folding armrest is exactly like the one in the Millenia. Very useful. There is a need for chasis rigidity/stiffness for the SE model.

I for one would like an off button for the traction control, and stability control. If you have driven high power FWD on slick surfaces, and maybe try to go up a sloped hill, it is better to turn traction control off. I am not that good of a driver, but I trust my driving, and I like the option to turn electronic band_aids off when I want to.

My Neighbour has just brought awhile back, When it first came out. Its in a lovely shade of dark blue. Its a massive car. With the price of gas rising I\'m not sure its wise to buy such a massive car these day. Its nice looking car. If a little mainstream and safe in the design. Drives lovely too. He let me take it for a spin. I was mighty Impressed. Even thought I only got a short trip around the block which lasted about 3 Minutes. But with the price of gas. I think Corrolla is gonna be the only Toyota you should buy. Funny These cars are a depreciation nightmare in the UK. You can pick up these massive boats for almost nadda.

With the new Yaris and The Camary. The Corralla going to look dated. against the rest of the model line-up.

Update on fuel consumption, I averaged 9.4L / 100km driving 70% city and 30% highway, with the power of this vehicle I was certainly not as light on the throttle as some other test cars, I enjoyed the thrust the engine provided.  I was pretty impressed by this fuel economy.

That is excellent for the size of the engine and car.

Months later...no forum account...still the same crap posts.  9.4l/100km is actually 25 mpg (US) and 30 mpg (Imp), under spirited driving in a new vehicle, which is indeed very good for a V6 family sedan.

yer I know its Corolla and Carmy......but these motors are really not pluse pounding. so by adding a A here and there adds a little something.  ;) The Fact is. Cause all Ameican cars are so rubbish we all get excited over Toyota\\\'s and Honda\\\'s. Yet in the UK. We would all yawn at the design. Because there are lots and lots of more exciting cars out there. Japanese cars have always been dull.
