Test Drive:
2006 Saturn Vue

2006 Saturn VueWhile it's based on a platform shared with other models, the Saturn Vue is its own entity, with plastic body panels and an available Honda-built engine. Assistant Editor Jil McIntosh found the handling somewhat lacking, but praised the performance and excellent cargo capability of this unique GM vehicle.    More...

While the previous gen wasn't great to look at, I don't like the looks of the facelift either.

I like our previous gen exterior better.  Looks more truck-ish, altho my wife really likes the new style.  The interior of the 06 is leaps and bounds above our 03 which is just horrible.  I do like the layout and look of our interior, but the materials are about as bad as the old Sunfires.

The VUE is a very underrated small ute tho.    It's a great hauler and has lots of useful cargo space.  Definitely not an enthusiast choice or a choice for offroading (well, even not for light off-roading, I had to take some crap to the dump on the weekend and had to drive right into the landfill area and just about got stuck)

It's really comfy to drive as well, great visibility and it's a safe vehicle.

I owned a 04 V6 AWD & now have a 05. I will probably get a 06 when the 0% financing comes out. Gotta love 250 hp & 30 mpg at 110 kmh. I put on 70,000 kilos a year & for what I do(travelling sales rep) this is a perfect vehicle.

The 3.5L must be good - I've never seen on on AutoTrader in Ottawa.

The interior is huge improvement over the original Vue.

I like the exterior before the refresh (what's with that chrome?), coupled with the new interior.

I couldn't stand the old exterior. Well.. the old one looked very sharp at the back and hideously outdated at the front.

I like the new interioir, though the Pontiac torrent does it better IMHO.

 :iagree:

I read many times the performance from the Honda powertrain is exemplary. Very quick and good fuel economy. Too bad the handling is supposed to be one of the weaknesses for this vehicle. I am not a big fan of the exterior design either.

I owned 2 Mazda Tributes before my Vues. The Saturn does everything better; way better with the exception of the mickey mouse AWD system. Tribute has the vue covered on this one.
