God you're thick.
WE DIDN'T LACK ANY OF THOSE CRITERIA. MY FRIEND WORKS FOR EQUIFAX AND WE HAD A CREDIT RATING IN OUR HANDS WITHIN HOURS.

Uh, what Articsteve was referring to was that, in Canada, neither of the major consumer credit bureaus (Equifax and Trans Union) includes income information in their consumer credit reports.

While I hate to interrupt the interesting debate happening here, I would like to take this time to thank the members of this forum.

Without coming here, I would never have discovered CarCostCanada. I just joined and printed reports on The Honda Pilot and Toyota 4Runner. With these, I feel I can now go negotiate with dealers with my eyes wide open.

The old "gotta feed my family and pay the utility bills" guilt trip will work no more. There is plenty of profit on both vehicles for both buyer and seller to walk away happy, I think.

If I am able to work a deal, I will be sure to post here and brag about it. Otherwise, I have found the forum very interesting and -- at times -- amusing!  ;)

And as I mentioned I went acreoss the street and got slmost the same deal, for MORE money, within 30 minutes of walking in the door, without issue. Also, as mentioned, my debt service ratio (I assume you know what that means) was only 22% (allowed to be up to 40%). We made plenty of money (we both worked at the time) and we were in a better financial state than we are now. Equifax DOES check things like late payments and default payments and as mentioned, I've never missed a payment or was even a day late.

What pisses me off is when people on the internet think that their 'life experience' is so vast and they are so knowledgeable that they can tell me how MY life is. The fact is, Articsteve seems to want to call me a liar every time I post a personal experience or opinion he disagrees with and refers to 'real life'. Well in real life, I'd have knocked him on his prissy little ass.

Sorry for hijacking your thread. No offense. I have a low tollerance for BS.

As for CarCost, I will be using them for my next purchase. The dealer I spoke to was 'CarCost friendly'.  ;D

Hey Bob, does this sound familiar?

I'm a nice guy, mostly, and I am a good driver with a clean record and and not one ticket in the last 10 years. I absolutely love cars, of all kinds and don't discriminate on cars or people.

Now, that said, I have encountered the same asian swerver 3 times in the last 2 weeks in the North West area of Country Hills Blvd. He drives a new silver VW Wagon and has a 'Baby on Board' hangy in the back window. He looks to be about 30 or so with a shaved head, maybe 5'7" or so, slight build. He's an ass. Both times he's ended up behind me and has tailgated me so closely that if I would have even touched the brake he would have hit me good. The only reason I didn't is becasue I had my 6 year old in the back seat. He couldn't pass me due to vehicles in the right lane and I am turning left soon up ahead. When he does get a chance to pass he goes a minimum of 80 or 90 k. It's 60 k through there.

If anyone knows this swerver tell him to slow down or there will be reprocussions. I am a very large man who, without my kid with me, will pull over, follow you home and end you, and all you care for. Don't speed in my neighbourhood and don't endanger my life or those in my care.

I don't care if you think you're some kinda gangtsa or some tough guy in your group of friends, you haven't seen mayhem until I bring it. I'll get the brothers and bring it hard.

Bob I think you suffer a Napoleon complex. :)

Honda Canada Finance is a top notch lender and are more than eager to support their dealers in advancing a sale.  If you got rejected it is because your income did not support your loan. But nice bit about the Equifax lady. :)

Join the Automobile Protection Association or CarCostCanada. APA pricing seems more favorable than CCC. APA quotes I have seen discount the freight and PDI charges and disallow non-statutory dealer administration fees.

Unfortunately, neither service has dealers that will make an offer where I live. Therefore, I went with the cheaper one as I really only wanted the wholesale cost of the vehicle.

Living in a major urban centre make car buying much, much easier than doing so in a rural setting. Hopefully this trend continues to grow and, by the next time we are ready to purchase a vehicle in another 4 or 5 years, we can use such as service to an even better advantage.

Stop buying extended warranties.  You're wasting your money.  You don't recover it on resale and you're not keeping the car long enough to really use it and on a Honda or Toyota it's pretty much a waste of money even if you do keep the car until it drops.  If you buy the extended warranty on the Pilot, you're throwing that money away...
No place I'd rather be...
