They are super sticky, you do no need tread, all tread does is channel water or for winters allow the tire to bite into the snow like little toes / fingers.  On flat dry pavement you can drive with no tread.

Oh, cool! So is the tire itself sticky or just the part that makes contact with the ground? I've never seen that type of tire at a tire store before so i'm guessing it's a special order. Does it make the ride quiet?

Actually yeah the ride is quiet, only performance shops would carry it stock, it usually is a special order.  The entire tire is very soft and friction makes it sticky.   THey only last say 100-200 km though so I hear ;)

In that case, don't drive too fast! Have to make that time travelling to 200Km last longer.  ;D

by the way, the stacking isn't illegal - as long as you have a minimum of 2 rear facing mirrors (drivers side and rear view)
