I had the Crappy Tire SE on my old Caravan.  They were on sale when I bought them.   I knew they weren't great, but I didn't know how much longer the Caravan would last, so I went for those cheaper tires.

It turned out my Caravan did last a lot longer than I thought it would (still had lots of little problems).  Once one tire blew and I had to replace two (to make them balanced L and R).  At that time the SE was also on sale (the SE comes on sale very very often).   But it turned out for replacement, they pro-rate based on how much tread is left, but use the regular selling price to charge me (rather than charging based on the sale price at that time).  I had to pay almost the same price as if getting one without the pro-rated replacement.

Also, the SE was rated at 110,000 km (now newer ones at 115,000km).  But after 40-50,000km, the tread was almost all gone.   This is the experience (i.e. SE having poor treadwear) with several people I talked to.  I'm a gentle driver in GTA, and wasn't happy with how quickly the SE wore out.

For the cheap price, the SE served its purpose.   But if you know you'll drive on the tires for a few years, I'd go for better tires.

Motomasters are rebranded Uniroyal/Michelin products.

Motomasters are rebranded Uniroyal/Michelin products.

Though some are rebranded Kelly/Goodyear procuts, aka their bastard childern.

To be fair, Motomasters are a case of you get what you pay for, they aren't horrible, but certainly are far from the greatest.  I'd say just barely above mediocrity in most cases, though their Icetrac winter tire seems to be an exception and is actually good.

All I'll say on a topic like this is... sadly, vehicles nowadays still rely on that 4 little patch of rubber, known as tires, to stick to the ground. When you are going 120 km/h, or braking from 120 km/h, your tires are one of the most important factor in how your car will behave...

NEVER cheap out your tires... they can mean a hit or near-miss in a potential accident.....

Sorry to bump an old thread...but I am too thinking of these tires.  They've been around a long time. They look decent, the current reviews aren't bad either.  They're having a sale on now to for like $84 for all 16 inch tires. What I don't like about CT is they're basing the warranty on the CURRENT price of the tire, not the price you paid.  I don't think that's right.

Actually the only tire that we sell that will outlast an SE in city driving is the Michelin Destiny. The SE's are one of our longest wearing tires, not something we say about the Traction T/A when we carried them. The SE have a treadwear rating of 520 for those curious.

The Yokohama TRZs at Kal Tire carry an unlimited KM 6 year treadwear guarantee if you're looking for a long lasting tire but anyway...

I had the SEs on two older vehicles just because they were CHEAP, but I wouldn't recommend it because of the mediocre wet braking performance, doesn't do quite well in Vancouver. Good tires if you're in a non rainy climate, or just drive safe and slow and follow the 4 second rule when it rains.

Don't tell me that.....then again, they can't be any worse than my OEM Proxes, can they?
