Topic: What SUV/VAN has tiptronic/steptronic type automatic transmission ?

I am in the market for a SUV/VAN, and I was researching Honda Pilot and Honda Odyssey (MY06).There were numerous reports about their transmission problems earlier and i am not sure if this is still a problem.

This also led me think about why Honda does not offer tiptronic style automatic transmission. I am not sure about MDX.

Not to sure if you will consider the Mazda5 as a minivan (propably a microvan) but it does have the automatic shifter and many owners have lot positive things to say about it (including myself).

Tucson has tiptronic... not sure if it's a big enough jump in space and cargo from your Element for you to consider it, but it definitely has the tiptronic feature. I would think that the coming-soon Santa Fe would also have tiptronic...

Tiptronic/Steptronic = initially cool little electronic gadget that gets old real fast and becomes eventually useless

I use it once in a while. Certainly not necessary, but can be useful. I like to lock my transmission in 5th gear when on the highway so that it doesn't kickdown when I accelerate to pass slower vehicles.

Mazda 5 is indeed in our radar screen, only bad thing i heard is the cost of parts. My test drive with wife were nothing but positive. I just need to find someone to assume my lease with Element. otherwise it will be another HONDA rollover thing.

Why do you want a steptronic any way.
Better to just have normal and sport mode

Correct, as far as I know, any Hyundai with a V6 comes standard with the tiptronic(Tucson,SantaFe,Sonata,Azera etc..) and the Tucson 4cyl can be ordered with the tiptronic (it's part of a package with A/C).

I think you're right - I remember sitting in a Santa Fe and seeing the tiptronic, or whatever it's called.
