My big question is - was the Rio as bad as everyone thinks they are?  How reliable was it?

The OLD Rio had terrible reliability according to CR. I don't think that there are yet any data on the NEW model.  ??? :-\

Actually, i never had any real problems with the Rio.. but it was getting to the point where i suspected it was about to start. There was rattling sound when i turned the heat on.. the brakes were starting to go too.

It was a good car for what it was, but it had no bells or whistles to break I hated that if i turned on the AC, it cut my power in half.. i had to turn it off to make it up a hill.
I got your "jeep thing"... now it burns when i pee!

Extra power with the AC off is a feature.

I'm not so sure...take a look at #7 in this tongue-in-cheek survey from the "other" Cartalk.  ;D

(PS..I like the MX-5!)

Ha ha!  Thanks a lot Careener!  Just what I needed!   :rofl2:

Shnak, I agree, I always thought the Jetta to be more of a hot, young, single chick's car too.  :)
