Wheels / Tires for 2000 Maxima
« on: March 26, 2006, 11:57:59 am »
I'm looking for a set of wheels(rims)&tires for my wifes 2000 Maxima GXE.  It currently runs 215/55/16's.  The original rims now have the winter tires on them and I'm looking to purchase another set of wheels&tires for April thru Oct useage.  As this car is more or less a city commuter car, I'm not looking for anything high end but still want the wheels to look good and have tires with decent comfort/wear/wet characteristics.  Sport Edition D5 wheels looked good to me but I know zip about wheels and manufacturers.  Any thoughts on this brand?  Any suggestions for tire brand/model?  Thanks!

What diameter were you thinking of going with? Sport Edition is an entry level wheel. Good value, decent quality and will give you the look at a reasonable price.

Let me know how big you are thinking to go and I can show you some options.

I'm happy to stay with 16" - I'm worried 17" would require lower profile and degrade the ride.  It's my wife's car - comfort, appearance and wear rate highest with her.

Have a look at the site for some ideas. You can follow this link for 16" wheels http://www.tiretrends.com/wheel2/iuc_pview/summerFinder2.php?model=2171&year=2000&wheelSize=16

Consider the wheels by Motegi Racing for value and a good selection of styles.
