Price of 2001 BMW 330i back when it was sold new
« on: March 23, 2006, 10:57:38 pm »
I recently purchased mint 2001 BMW 330i for $29,000. 70,000 kms on it. One previous owner. I got 14,000k trade in for 2001 Jetta and paid 15,000 on top of that. Price includes tax, fees and 2 year warranty.

Here are the specs:
1. 5 Speed
2. Premium Package
3. Harman/Kardon sound
4. Rain Sensor
5. Xenon headlights

Would anyone know how much did this car cost back then when it was sold brand new?

Base MSRP $45,900, can't help with the add ons.

Enjoy your new wheels!

Was it a lease return? ... from a dealership?

You dont mention the sport package ?   most 330i would have that.

At 70,000 kms the engine is probably not quite as broken in as it will be.

Do you have the maintenance history?   Has it had the dreaded 25000 km oil changes only or more than that?

if it has been maintained exactly by the book it is due for an oil change any minute. as a 2001 it should have had coolant change done ( 4 yrs by the book 2 yrs recommended)  It should have had its 2nd brake fluid change ( 2 yrs ) and you would want to see service records of those. Some would say that it will soon be time for a new water pump impeller

As yet it will NOT have had an inspection II

If this was a lease return from a dealer I would try to find out all the above , even by trying to find the first 'owner"

ok. so it was 46k plus addons. does $60k look possible after taxes?

Car had the oil changes done at 23000, and 45000 km. then one at 67000. I know, it it was me, I'd do it more often, but it's still under BMW guidelines. I bought the car with 70000 km and recently changed it at 74000. From now on, I will do it every 8000 km

The car was a lease return. The local subaru dealer bought and couldn't sell it for almost two years (they kept it in showroom). I guess they were asking way too much. Also market for expensive car with 5 speed manual is pretty much non existent in New Brunswick.
That's why I got such a good deal. Dealer just wanted to get rid of it since they were losing money on it.

I am in process of getting clear corners and tinting rear windows at 5%. Also my tires are pretty worn out so I'll be putting some 255s on the back. It's gonna look mean.

Nice car! But sitting in a showroom for 2 years... that's a big warning flag IMO...

Do you guys all have such short memories that you forget when Croat was going through the whole buying process (then posting pics) of his beauty 330i?  Crazy old farts.

My very rough ball-park is that you've got about $5k in options on that car without the sport pkg.  So it was probably around $58k with taxes in brand new.  That's my speculation anyway.

Love that 330 snarl!

those are BMW E39 M5 replica wheels. 17x8.5.

Well, car wasn't in the showroom whole time. It was in showroom whole winter. I guess owner of the dealership used to drive it in the summer.
As I said, car is in perfect condition. I think some businessman drove it. In the back seat, you know the handles above the doors? Well, there are bunch of scratches on them. I'd say it's from hangers.

GiantDwarf, I am glad you remember. I was bit surprised when ppl asked me to post pics again. I guess no one pays any attention to me here :(

Congrulates on the new ride. I always love BMW Straight-6's engine note and willingness to rev at high rpm.

Its not unusual to see 330i with M Sports Pkg, in fact, there are many 330i without any options just because of the drivetrain and performance over loaded 325i.

Superb looking ride

Noticed your NB plates!  I don't know where you're located but do you know a good local mechanic? ... Quebec/Halifax is kind of far.  The joys of owning a luxury brand in NewBee  ;D ... insurance must be scary.  :o

Still ... great buy!

I live in Saint John but since my parents live in Fredericton, that's where I take it.

York Auto, right accross VW dealership in Fredericton. Andy Waterhouse was a master tech at Volvo for 18 years. He does alot of imports.

Insurance? Went up $7/month when compared to my old 2001 VW Jetta 2.0
