I don't know if that helps in your case, but I've spent over 3 months negotiating my Forester - covered two local dealerships and even went to Calgary. After I've got the numbers and "best deals" from all of them, I was glad my local dealer went an extra mile for my business. Forester is an excellent vehicle, I donno how people even compare driving Forester and CRV. I would go out of  province to get the best deal on Subie cause it is simply worth it ;)

Well since I did, I can tell you I chose the CR-V for looks over the Forrester..  It's kind of like.. How can people actually like the Honda Element, some people do for some reason even though it's ugly looking.

I found the CR-V was more stylish than the Forrester for the simple fact that the Forrester looked like their station wagon stretched for height. To me, if I wanted a station wagon I would of bought their Outback, or if I wanted a similar look of the WRX I would of went with the WRX. I just didn't like hte look of it at all.

Again.. Matter of choice on styles really... Rav-4's are nice, but we also tried that and felt like we were driving a 15 year old vehicle.

AVtoller hasn't read this one yet, so I'll fill in for the time being. Its 'Forester'.   :P

The insurance companies actually classify Forester as a wagon, you are right its more like a tall wagon than a small SUV. All the magazines classify/compare it against all the other small SUVs. I share your feelings about how Forester compares with other SUVs in the looks department.

That's true - it is a matter of choice. But i was primarily talking about driving (did not even want to get to the issue of looks or style ). Its just after trying both on Edmonton winter roads I had an impression that where CRV manages to get through ok, Forester totally owns the road. It is actually a fun to drive vehicle!  Anyhow  ;) my point was - if you like to drive a Subie - fight for a deal cause it is worth it  :)

Disclaimer: the above opinion is expressed by a Subie fan and is caused by uncontrollable love for Subaru vehicles.   ;)

Thanks for filling in for me - I haven't checked this thread for a while. It's good to know that someone is being vigilant in the cause of RIGHT!  :rofl2:  :rofl2:

The Forrester Forester is definitely a "tall wagon" rather than a small SUV, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. It was a GREAT compact wagon though.

As diver said, its the love for Subaru, particularly Forester that I indulge into such things.  ;D

Forester XS is a good value for its packaging comparing with other small SUVs.

I am still torn between Midsize Sedan or a Forester. I know my answer, trying to get my wife to agree as well, maybe on her birthday late this year.  :D
