That does seem to be a little short on time as I park my Truck up to 6 months in the winter and it starts fine in the spring. How many CCA's does this battery have.

Barrie - newer cars have more computing built in and trying to retain that power to run the onboard systems will cause the battery to drain.

I had the 84 Corvette which had to have a trickle charger to keep things 'running'. Over the winter and not using it would kill the battery in about two weeks.

I have a 1984 Caddi Seville with all the Bells and whistles and even the self-diagnostic computor. My 770 CCA Battery keeps it just fine  for up to 6 months without fail. It even has the levelling system which works automaticly. I have never had a problem with this battery draining that quick.  I still think thats a little early for the battery to go down that far.

hi guys i am new to this site in reference  to
Umm... I found that letting my 2003 VW Golf sit for more than 2 or 3 weeks (like over a long vacation) caused the battery to drain; I don't know if the older models do that... The dealership said it's not a bug, it's a feature. So I have to but a "trickle charger", which uses a solar panel)the newer model are prone to discharging after about 2 weeks of sitting due to drainage from the radio and built in alarm system ,like elf da said try using the solar panel that usually comes with these cars that the dealer never give with the new cars.

when the battery drains the famous ck engine ligth comes on and also the air bag ligth ,when the tech purges the memory with the dealers computer it`s usually cause by a fault listed with low supply voltage and they will erase the faults and set you on your way.

Hi concerning cold starts in referene to lamb2 statement :Do not buy a Volks TDI any model from 2000-today. They don't start when cold and no block heater is available!this fall 2004 volks has introduced a new and improved oil pan pad heater wich is glued to the pan and does the job, also all turbo direct injection volks should and must be replaced with 5w40 motul or castrol syntek for easier starts in cold weather.

there`s a product called stanadyne wich sells for about $ 14.00 dollars cdn and is good for about 6 to 8 capfull to 60 litres per capfull concentrated to lubricated the fuel pump and helps reduce or remove gell up or wax buildup in fuel tank and lastly if the car starts to jerk in very cold temperatures # by the way never leave the tank go down below half in the winter# to reduce condensation in fuel tank add one (1) bottle of *one shot* to the tank and leave engine run for about 30 min. to 1 hour to help eliminate water in fuel tank

It's a feature that the battery goes dead?  Wow, wonder where that is on the brochure?  Now this confirms that VW dealers are the biggest...THE BIGGEST BSers.

Sheesh, Luke!  What a load of cr*p.  If it's a "feature", ask them to show you where it's described in the owner's manual and the sales brochure.  My 2001 GTI has only ever sat unstarted that long maybe once in 3 1/2 years, and it started just fine.  No "Stranded at the Airport" feature was activated.  It must only be on newer models.
"PC Load Letter...what the f_ck does that mean?"

I was just thinking.....this new 'feature' is probably VW's new and improved theft deterrent system.  Immobilizer taken to the next level.  VW really is technically advanced.  I'm impressed....their engineers are always thinking.  :-)

I hope they didn't charge extra for the 'feature'.
