Thank you.
I have confirmed with Vancouver Honda that they need replacing.
Now they are knocking when going over bumps and the handling is poor.
I will need to replace the entire strut assembly.
I will look into an Indy Honda shop.

I have confirmed with Vancouver Honda that they need replacing.Well if you find a good indy Honda shop they may have some ideas for you because those struts were problems and you don't want to put the same type back in.
What is your mileage?
I will need to replace the entire strut assembly. How do you know that? Because a Honda dealer said so? They all say that. Its more money for them and it's faster.
My mom has a 2001 EL with 12K on it and around 8K the left front started making a noise. Depends on the bump and where the wheel direction is at. I've done a bit of reading on it and I think like some it is a function of the main spring which is not replaced when you get a new entire strut.
I'm going to tighten down the insert (shock) and see if that helps.
If I were you I'd go for two inserts only, but it depends on your mileage and prices between the insert only and the whole thing.
It could also be your strut mount or bearing. But someone who does little else than Honda should know the score on this problematic suspension.
After 2002 Honda changed something regarding the strut.
