A striking automobile in the flesh. I was in the presence of one at the auto show. Not worth the premium over a Boxster, but it's still damn sexy.

A very nice car indeed but for that kind of money it would be very hard to walk past a C6. In fact I could not. |

Yup it's hard to justify the extra G's over the vette. Otherwise, This car is simply amazing with the looks to back it up. Sales are slow and for good reason. Doesn't matter how good your car is, if you don't price it appropriately, it's gonna flop. |

And while we're bitching about money, the Cayman S is only $59,695 in the U.S.. That translates into a 10 grand hit for us Canucks. -- Peter Bleakney, Canadian Driver, 3-13-06
I'm glad the author mentioned this. With our dollar in the 87¢ range it's time to bring pressure to bear on importers to stop cheating Canadians.

Why wouldn't you get a C6 Z06?
Price as tested is over $96,000. That is really bad bang-fo-the-buck.
I really hope the Cayman flops. Porsche has to realize something, it can't just slap a higher price on their ('entry' level) cars and expect the public to buy them based on the Porsche name-plate. For god sake it shares 50% of mechanical bits with the 911, and the other 50% are probably from the Boxster and it's a hardtop.
Like I've mentioned in other posts, I'd rather get an Elise with the sport package (and with all the extra money I can supercharge it).
I too am glad he mentioned the price difference between Canada and the U.S. I doubt anything will ever happen, but...

I had a chat with a guy at the Autoshow that has made a living importing cars in between Canada and the US. Turns out, it's not that difficult to do (there's a forum on this within CarTalkCanada I think).
The biggest hang up (according to him) is the validity warranty...and Porshce's is valid in the US or Canada...while Honda/Acura's only valid in the country the vehicle was destined for.
Might be time for a little cross-border shopping! |

To the Germans, bang for buck means going to Amsterdam....or Thailand. Actually, prostitution is legal in Germany (at least in Bavaria). I remember reading that since they are brassing themselves to accomodate all the willing tourists for the world cup this summer. Another useless fact brought to you by the Internet! |

Nevermind that! The Cayman we were all playing in at the Toronto Auto Show had a sticker of $103k. The Carerra parked right behind it ( ) started at $104k. No brainer there. I can take my Carerra without the leather dash and coloured centre cap badges. |

With such a minor price difference between this and the Carrera it's indeed a 'no brainer' as to what to choose. That said, Porsche has got some big kohona's to ask 90+ K for what is a car that should retail for no more than 75k fully loaded. Like others Porsche is taking the Canadian consumer for granted with our dollar the way it is. |

If I am buying a 997 Carrera, C2S would be an obvious choice over C2.
