so who follows F1 arround here?
« on: March 07, 2006, 05:21:28 pm »
I can't wait, 4 days left.  I've been going through withdrawls.   :)

I hope the 1st race is good.

Although I'm not a huge HondaF1 fan, I hope they win some races this year.  They've put a lot of money, time and effort into their F1 program.  Same goes for Toyota.

I hate to judge based on winter testing, but...

Front Runners:
-I think McLaren will be very fast but unreliable in the first half of the season.
-Renault looks very good, again this year.
-Honda looks very strong this year.  That's good to see.
-Ferrari (although I'm a huge Ferrari fan), it's good to see them struggle last year (makes the sport more entertaining) and this year's car doesn't look like it will dominate.

Mid-Pack:
-WilliamsCosworth, not much to say.  Hopefully Cosworth's extensive V8 development will help them stay a mid-pack team.  Or maybe they'll surprise the entire pit.   ???
-BMW.  As Toyota, Honda, Jaguar (Ford), etc... have learned, a lot of money will not guarantee you success in F1.  We won't see much from them for another 2 seasons.
-Red Bull, they've done wonders with the car compared to Jaguar

Last:
-Torro Rosso, I think they'll learn a lot from their sister team
-Super Aguri - They'll be the new Minardi
-MF1 - ???   No comments really.  Hopefully the influx of some needed cash will help them.

Last comment:
I hope Barichello out performs Button and Trulli out performs Ralf.  I think both these guys (Jenson / Ralf) are way over paid and over-hyped.

Any comments?

I watch F1 most of the time as I’m up early on Sunday morning. Something needs to make the series more competitive, similar to CHAMP cars.

 :iagree:

While the technology is impressive it's boring as all hell to watch. Watch the start and you've pretty much got the finishing order figured out. But for some reason I still watch it..... ???

I follow F1, more into WRC tho. Kinda hard to follow the Live Races because of the time difference. But do watch the re-runs and spend lots of time on the Website.

:iagree: As well.  I'd like to stop following, actually, because the series and the races just aren't that compelling.  I tape races (I don't do 6AM on Sundays) then fall asleep watching them.  Yet it's like an old pair of slippers that I've repaired with duct tape and just can't throw away.  So I wait for the pinnacle of motorsport to actually FEEL like the pinnacle of motorsport.

I can't wait for F1 to start again ... with all the new rules and teams, the 2006 season looks promising

- They're back to changing tires during the race ... and Bridgestone as gained a few more team
- 3 step qualifying rounds ... sounds interesting!
- Alonso signed with McLaren for 2007 ... will Fisichella's car have certain advantages to punish the "traitor"
- Toyota invested 425 million last year ... will we see any results this year?
- Schumie has a new biatch called Massa ... I don't think he needs to worry about him stealing his pole positions
- Button will probably do better then Barrichello
- Lots of new small teams with rookies ... should be entertaining!  (Except for Super Aguri ... pathetic!)
- Villeneuve probably won't do much and blame everything on the car ... the weather ... the clouds ... his tire going faster than him.  :rofl2:
- Switch to V8 or restrained V10 (Toro Rosso only) but they still have to last for 2 races.

With the introduction of the new engine regulation ... anybody could win this year.  Ferrari has been working on theirs since 2003 and it's supposedly Shumie's last year before taking Todd's job so I'm sure he wants to go out with a bang!  The new V8 configuration changes the chassis and cooling dynamics ... should be a bit slower in the corners but relatively the same in the straights.

I do.   I'll be up for qualifying on sat and the race on Sunday

Me!

The early races will be fantastic as most of the cars are new so no leaders early on.
