SSSCguy, thanks for joining the forum and giving your account -- as an actual owner of the mighthy SS.  Kudos to Chevy for bringing it out, and I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it -- it's definitely a neat machine with a lot of potential I'm sure.

Are you planning to use it for AutoX this year?  I'd be interested in hearing how it fares in the low-speed tight twisties in your opinion compared to your previous (lighter) Civic.  Certainly the SS has more rubber to keep it stickin'!

Belleville's not tooooo far away.  Perhaps if you stick around here, we can get you out to a track night at Toronto Motorsports park to see how well she runs with our own eyes.  Like Snowman said above... I know there are a few people that'd like a shot at your SS SC.  ;)

While GM does suffer a lot of abuse here on the forum from a lot of us, they do make a few really neat products.  The Vette obviously, and the Cobalt SS is another.  Most of the Caddy line seems to have gotten it right lately too (styling notwithstanding).  This is as open-minded and accepting a forum as you're likely to find in the automotive world.  Just be careful with the hairy-chested, my-car's-balls-are-bigger-than-your-car's-balls pissing matches here (especially about street racing which is going to make you mighty unpopular here mighty quickly) -- you'll never be top dog and even in this little group, there are folks with MIGHTY fast machines that could embarass you in front of your own lady pretty quickly.  :)

Welcome aboard and hope to see some pics of your SS in the "Readers Rides" section.  Share away!

I have a friend who has a suped up VW Corrado and claims that he can absolutely destroy the Cobalt SSSC. Up for the challenge? ;D

Seriously though, good input and glad your car has treated you well so far.

Wow, I'll be candid here guys, I was a little upset at ALOT of the posts I read about 'my new car' last night here, and thus the "my car is fast" post that I made.  I certainly hope I didn't offend anyone at all, it was not my intention.

That said, I know there are many people in this site who likely drive much faster cars than mine.  I've bragged more than a bit about it's performance, but Chevy REALLY has out-done it's self this time.  (as much as I hate to admit it...lol)  Sure the STI WRX is faster, as is an SRT usually if the guy can drive it.  A Vet will eat me alive, so will a Mustang GT Std.  So will 911's and many others.  So will a done up Civic, and many more.  The point I was trying to make - is that a STOCK car in this price range will likely be severley beaten in a Drag.  Don't 'dis this car unless you've either been in it - or raced it - just because of the Bo-Tie.

My competition so far is not exagerated.

As for my Auto-Xing, I was in first place until the last 2 races 2 years ago, when I had to stop racing because of work responsibilities.  (long story)

I'd love to share photos, I have a few nice ones.  Any tips on how to do that??  As well, I want to clarify - I'm NOT dissing anyone else's car here in my posts.  I LOVE a challenge, and have to try not to smile when Joe-Blow next to me wants to race my car.   The more  - the Merrier... tell me where and when.   ;)

SSSCGuy, looking forward to see your pics.  :) How much was the cost/budget to go Racing on a track?

A bit late to the discussion. The center gauge on the Ion  is a turn off for me.  :P But the Ion does have a great set of  looking Recaros with leather inserts. Are they available on the Cobalt?

The suspension tuning on the Cobalt is different from the Ion, there is also the optional  LSD. Love the Cobalt in yellow. I like bright flashy cheerful colors. 8)  We have a supercharged car in the garage, love the instance responsiveness and that pitchy "whine" sound. It is easy to  get the power out of the engine, just mesh the gas pedal to the floor.  ;D

Haven't had a chance to drive the Ion/Cobalt, but will go  for a test drive this spring,  maybe even a  SRT-4. Don't like those seats in the Cobalt from the article.  :P The interior looks alright, been in a regular Joe Cobalt. A friend bought one, an SS, no SC; he would of buy the 2006 Civic Si, but Honda financing is hard to deal with. Rates are a lot better at Chevy. That is one reason why people who wants to switch to Japanese cars, but won't qualify for the financing, and ended up still dealing with GMAC and Ford Credit.

Nice!  Only an extra $750 and you're looking at a handsome increase in power.  Gotta love that forced-induction.

SSSCguy, like I said before, no harm done, just helping to give a bit of a flavour for this forum here.  It truly is the best one around in many of our humble opinions.  ;)

For posting pics (and we hope that you do!) select the "Additional Options" link below the text window when you're posting a message / reply.  From there you should be able to 'browse' to upload an image -- just make sure it's kept to a minimal size as the bandwidth nazis won't allow anything over a certain size restriction (can't recall off the top of my head what it is).

Alternatively, if you've got a bunch uploaded to photobucket or some site like that, simply post a link so we can see your baby.

Oh, and I meant it when I said that I hope we can get you out to a track night (or any other CarTalk Canada function that may come up)... there are a lot of great (and ecclectic) car fans here.

Welcome aboard!

Wow
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=109933

Seems GM is following the SRT-4 by providing stage upgrades.

I wish honda did that... :(  Super Stage 3 VTEC
