Winter wash 'n' wax
« on: February 26, 2006, 03:41:22 pm »
Feels good to give the car some TLC in Winter, not too cold here today so spent an hour or two cleaning and waxing the car.  Also topped up fluids, change wiper blade etc.

I'm sure the car is happier now!  :)

Also I have changed the slicks to some slightly more sensible tyres for Winter, as I was only getting 5k miles from the Yokohama's.  They were a very soft compound, and at $1200 a set, not worth it..

Your tires were track tires, great for the track probably illegal in Canada as road tires.    Looks great, my red car is currently white and it's -20 :(

Ha ha, to live the good life, get a farm and drive trucks!
 ;D

Yep T1-R's, they seem pretty good, much better grip in the wet, and more progressive than the AO48's. It's what all the TVR's have switched over to.

They are still a relatively soft compound compared to normal road tyres so suit the weight of the car well, without wearing out ridiculously fast.  For some reason Goodyear F1's don't suit Lotuses, don't know why maybe just can't get the heat into them...

Cheers, let me know what tyres the Exige comes out with in Canada, I'd be surprised if AO48's were not standard as Yokohama developed them with Lotus, one reason why they are so frikkin' expensive!

I am surprised Pirelli didn't have something suitable Bob for you car Bob, myself I would never use Goodyear tires for anything. I have have never had good service from a Goodyear tire in my life.  Usually the sidewall cords seperate and cause me nothing but problems and the thread life has been very poor as well.  :)

Re: Winter wash 'n' wax:

I got my car through one of the best automatic car washes I have tried in TOronto yet. Crosstown Car wash on Dundas St. West, just east of Runnymede Rd. 7$  for touchless wash and undercar wash. You can upgrade to 'touch' if you want your  car touched and its still through the same car wash. Really good rinse job. Also, you can pay by credit card or interac card while you sit in your car. No gas is on sale , it's just a car wash.

He won't be bringing that car anyways as by then he will want a Vett for our highways and back roads. Come to Ont Bob where we grow everything Green and have a Full mix of Industry and a good standard of living. We got 1000's of miles of twisty back roads as well. About 10,000 Lakes to choose from as well.  :) :) :) ;D

It's been a mighty crazy winter here too.  I spent the weekend in the Kawarthas and had a reminder what Canadian winters are supposed to be like with a foot and a half of snow on the ground. Beautiful and lots of fun.  Came back to the Hamilton area and STILL nothing on the ground.  I've literally driven my car ONCE in the snow this winter and it was only a few CM's of it at that!  (not that I'm complaining).

Ah the joys (and sorrows) of the ignore function. I guess I miss a few things, but I'm not too upset about it.  8) ;D
