Personally I feel all of the GM products are very much improved in the last few years, I also understand why some folks like different vehicles then others in their lineup as well. We all have different needs in life for a vehicle so naturally our interests go in the direction we need as well as desire also. The Vet and the V-series Caddies are a gem in their own right as they are very good performance cars which for the money are extremely good buys.  :)

Love the Caddy XLR! All of the new Caddys catch my eye and attention. The Corvette deserves respect as well.

The Corvette is a great car for an american pushrod and you get a lot of bang for your buck but it's not at BMW's level just yet.  It's great in straight lines and in curves (suprising for an American car) but I can't get passed the leaf spring suspension in the back ... what the ..?

The real test for Cadillac will be their next generation of cars.  They've proven that they have the potential to make decent and good looking cars but will they be able to take the next step?  Will the next Caddies be big boats with zero styling?

hm....maybe !! Are they offer 0% right now? maybe 1.9 or 2.9?  But didn't GM learn their lesson that 0% financing doesn't help selling cars!!  ;D  I am still loving my G6 I might get a intake too!! :)

The Corvette is a great car for an american pushrod and you get a lot of bang for your buck but it's not at BMW's level just yet.

Yeah, except perhaps for the M5, they'd have to add a block under the throttle pedal of the 'Vette to bring it to BMW's level.

I love the BMW's, but they're not really competing with the Corvette.  Even the M3/M5/M6 cars have a very different character.  The Corvette is meant to steal the thunder from the Viper, the 911 and even the exotics like Ferrari.  Sure, a Ferrari has cache' yadda-yadda, but it still sucks to be driving your $275,000 Pasta Rocket and have a V-8 brute roast 'yer butt.

The Vette is "New American Style."  Giant tires, giant engine, lots of gears (unlike the old days) and yes it has leaf springs, but it's still a rocket ship with rubber tires.  The REALLY great thing about both the Z-06 and the plain-jane (but really fast) C6 is the price.  Sure, a $100K car is beyond most folks, but it's a hulluva lot closer than $175-300K for it's rivals.  Makes the dreams a little less "dreamy."

And Caddy?  Where did they come from?  They went to Germany and looked at "M" and "AMG" and injected the German performance crack-cocaine mainline!  Anyone wanting "quirky, different, performance" FORGETS the Jag "R" and gets a big-motor Caddy!
No place I'd rather be...

Actually the Caddie engines of to-day which are pushing a lot more HP are of much small DID design compared to the older 472 and 500Cid engines of older models of the same brand.  Push Rod or not they sure are faithful and a lot of Fun to drive and one of the fastest cars around for the money as well. probably the best bang for the Buck in to-days markert place as well.  :)        I just love my Small Blocks.  :) :)

3.8 L V6-an old tech motor that still works nicely. Doesn't have to be revved up to get decent power, and good on gas. Unfortunately I happen to have the one that loves to leak oil.

The 3.8 is certainly one of the best engines designed by GM. Usually they were pretty good on the leaks. Probably the valve cover gaskets which do get thin over the years. Easy enough to replace and fairly inexpensive to buy as well.  :)

Never had a problem with valve cover gaskets. It has alwasy been the rear engine main seal and the associated seal that seals the casting that holds the rear engine main seal to the engine block. The last repair (done by an independent using aftermarketparts) has been leak free for almost 3 years.

Good glad to hear that as your 3.8 will probably continue to serve you for many more years yet. They are a very durable engine for sure.  :)
