IMHO, currently the best GM product is...
« on: February 15, 2006, 06:15:09 pm »
Hi guys,

My answer is Onstar. It may sound laughable, but it is actually the best in business. It's even available in a $20k Cobalt. I honestly think its implementaion is second to none. It is actually a desirable product.

I really don't mind driving a GM car if it's up to par with competition. After DC's trio of RWD cars, now Ford has rolled out exciting yet affordable cars like Fusion. I had high hope for G6 before its release... oh well...
it still looks nice, but...

That's right. The Corvette is definitely lengendary, but it's not readily affordable to most of us, me included  :(

Just sidetrack a little bit, despite of the mediocre performance, the Optra line does strike my attention. I think the Optra wagan is one of the best looking wagons around.

I don't mind having a new Impala SS on my driveway, but honestly, I would much rather have a Passat 3.6 or even a 06 Accord. That's desirability.  :drive:

I agree with the Corvette. Impala/Monte Carlo & Escalade aren't bad either and the HHR is intriguing.

But for affordability, my vote goes to the Toyota Vibe.  ;D

The new Camaro will be the one when it comes.

Initially Gm thought On Star was a dud as a business model and let go the dude that developed the program.  :P

Any specV Caddies are indeed very nice. However, if say you have the cash and find yourself in the market of a high performance sedan, would you rather get a M3/M5 or S4/RS6 instead? Don't get wrong, both CTS-V and STS-V are big time performers, but in the field of luxurious racers they are not the first two vehicles coming to our minds.

The M3 is no match for the CTS-V’s V8. Having a Corvette engine in the CTS-V is far more attractive than the MS. The CTS-V is more of a practical car and interests me more despite BMW’s reputation. The M5 is another story with its 500 HP but the price Jump is huge.

1. Corvette and everything Corvette.  It's like they're from another planet where "normal" GM doesn't exist.
2. Caddy.  The comeback kids, taking on the Germans.  Must have borrowed some Corvette staffers...
3. Uh, uh, uh, well, jeez, that looks like it.
No place I'd rather be...

Corvette has always been about performance...now their build quality looks to be improving too.  Cadillac looks to be back on the comeback trail....got some exciting designs.

Best Service Oriented Product = OnStar
Best Vehicle = Corvette and then distantly Cadillac

Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade, Corvette, and Vibe.

Then I'd say Lucerne, Cadillac STS and SRX (with a revamped interior coming), Impala/Allure, G6, Cobalt SS, Saab 9-3 SportCombi.
