I just compared a 3.0R premier Outback wagon (MSRP 45995 CDN) to a 3.0R LL Bean edition in the US (about 35,200 CDN at list). If I'm reading the brochures correctly the only difference is that the Nav system is a 2K option in the States. For $10K+ I can stick my $400 Garmin on the dash thank you very much! Pickles, did you buy in Maine? Quirk in bangor or Maine Mall Sub in Portland?

Quirk Subaru, 295 Hogan Rd.
Bangor, ME

And since the US savings are so great we are now considering a second Legacy Wagon as if we purchase again from the US we will be able to afford a second one.

If we purchase from canada it will not be within our means to have a second legacy.

See the news item on CD today

"Subaru Canada Inc. has announced that the 2008 Legacy and Outback models will be sold at the same prices as in 2007.

The Legacy sedan and wagons will be offered in 2.5i and 2.5GT trim, with five-speed manual or optional four- and five-speed automatic transmissions. The Legacy 2.5i will start at $26,995, the 2.5GT at $40,295; the Legacy 2.5GT spec.B Sedan will be priced at $44,995. "

That should give some business to the US Subaru dealers. I wonder what Subaru Canada is thinking of... don't they see the business news about our $0.94 dollar?    ???

Yesterday we got news from Subaru that will allow a 1.9% interest rate as a loyalty bonus to stay with them. Translated the new car would be less money than what we are paying for the Forester and the new one - Outback Touring maybe - is worth $2,000 more.

Payments would be down $60 a month over what we are paying now. The word last night from the significant other was to stay with Subaru. However the word Tribeca has been used a lot from that side while I'm pitching Outback. The Tribeca will cost more and if the interest rate is on remaining 07 stock - it won't happen because of the Ugly Betty nose and premium fuel.

However if the new Tribeca had that rate and the five passenger came in at about the same as we are paying now - I suspect there will be a Tribeca coming home. Stay tuned - I think there will be some livid discussions to follow. Rest assured the we word won't matter.

In another twist of fate the Acadia is liked too even though I'm saying it's too big. Go figure. ???
