You may discuss our cover story of the day in this thread....
Test Drive:
2006 Mitsubishi Galant GTS

2006 Mitsubishi Galant GTSThough "virtually unknown in the mid-size family sedan class," the 2006 Mitsubishi Galant "has a lot to recommend it," says Editor Greg Wilson. "Its interior is one of the roomiest in its class," and it offers "excellent stability when cornering."  However, the Galant GTS has a "wide turning circle" and "the rear seatbacks do not fold down."    More...

My neighbour down the street had an old Plymouth Breeze. Then he traded it in for a Kia Sephia. Then he traded that in for a Mitsu Galant....

It's funny - I think Mistu thought this American designed 'style' would be the shiznaught, but it's not. The rear always confuses me with the Dodge Charger too. That steering wheel is  Hurl in itself.

I wouldn't be paying anywhere near what Mitsu wants for this thing when there's other more credible entries in this segment. At least it's on the large size tho.

the 2006 Mitsubishi Galant is virtually unknown in the mid-size family sedan class in Canada.

YOU'D THINK SO!  Living in a major city with no damn dealership within 100km what do you expect.

I agree ... but an EVO would end up in the garage since they're not street legal and never will be.

If I had the means, I would buy and licence an Evo in the US and drive it here.  It would be as exclusive as a Lamborghini and as fast as one too.

Mr. Wilson,

Just a few technical questions from Montreal.

- What compression ratio is the Galant running to necessitate Premium fuel?

- The fuel comsumption should be way less if it is above 11:1.

- Are they still using timing belts?  If so, shame on them.

Comment.  I recently went to try out the 2006 Lancer Ralliart and was not impressed with the RPM @ 100km/h.  The car has 163hp/-163ft/lb and revving @ 2500 rpm.  That car has way more than enough torque to do 2000 rpm @ 100km/h, and the fuel consumption would be a bit lower.  I am still waiting for them to convert to a chain timing system, as the technology is "silent" enough these days.

- Why is Mitz. dragging their feet?  they have to be about 2-4 years behind the other guys.  They should spend a little less time at WRC.  Thats all for now.

Umm did anyone notice the license plate?  Please forgive my ignorance, but is there a Vancouver in Ontario or did they just ship it there from Vancouver BC?  Doesn't make sense if they did?  Just thought it was a slightly humorous observation...maybe.

Greg test drove and wrote the article in Vancouver, but stock photos were used on CanadianDriver based in Ottawa.

It wins the award for the ugliest steering wheel.
