« on: February 06, 2006, 10:41:58 am »
Hi there
I'm writing a few articles about Mini racing in the 1960's and 70's in canada ( mosport).
I need some pictures of early racing minis and story's  1960's and some info about the Bulova series in the 1970's

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks
Mike

I started my road racing with a 998cc Mini Cooper in Ontario at both Mosport and Harewood in 1966, both with a friends modified street car and then a purpose built low budget race car.  They certainly were fun to drive - not much power and you had to learn about FWD.

Your best bet for photos and stories would be Wheelspin News issues, Canada Track & Traffic issues, and maybe put a notice on the Canadian Motor Sport History Group forum.  Also contact the VARAC group who run the vintage festeval at Mosport coming up June 23-25.  There should be several racing Minis there.  I am assuming you are in Ontario, but if you are in BC, come out to the annual ABFM at Van Dusen gardens May 20 - might see a few racing Minis on display.  Check out the arperformance mini website.

Mike, I might have some Bulova results from a few races - will have a look.  You might want to get hold of Bill Brack (still in the car business in Toronto?).  Bill was the most famoous of all the Ontario Mini drivers and usually had the fastest one.  Bill of course, was also Canadian driving champion in a F A car in 74 and 75.
