Most people that buy a vehicle like that don't particularily care that the DVD screen is 9" or 7", the amount of pixels or the colors... they just want it. They don't particularily care about how the AWD system works, as long as it's there. And they certainly don't care about how the tire pressure monitoring system functions... so really, the only thing that has changed for them is the bigger engine.  ;)

The Highlander was originally based on the Lexus RX330 ... now with the new models coming out, things may have changed.

I imagine all these changes are to keep it current into is last year of production. The HL and RX are based on the Camry/ES platform which has been redone for 2007, I would imagine both these SUVs will be revamped in mid to late 2007.

We have an 05 HL and cross shopped the RX.  Basically, we bought the HL because we didn't want to Lexus' in the driveway (what would the neighbours think) and we saved about $3,000 and got a sunroof. However, the first time I took it in for service and was treated like the owner of a '88 Corolla, while my Lexus bretheren were given ES loaners and chilled water in the waiting room I wished I spent the diference.

Personally I love the stalk cruise switch, its totally intuitive, tap up to increase speed, down to coast and pull forward to turn off. It is a design stollen from Mercedes in the 80s. In terms of the knob, I couldn't tell you.

I wonder how good is the Lexus service from Lexus/Toyota shared dealers? I know dedicated Lexus stores spend a bunch, as dictated by the  brand, to provide this Lexus service experience.

I also expect the next RX to cost significantly more than the RX350. Though Toyota are keeping their prices in line when renewing models, same can't be said from Lexus (IS,GS) probably because not of much competition.

Service from the Toyota/Lexus dealership a few of my friends who own various models of Lexi have stated that they were fantastic.

I agree with MDX, our experience with Heffner Lexus Toyota has been outstanding...much better than BK Motors (BMW) and Victoria Star (MB).

I happen to really like the heatseat controls in our RX330.  All you have to do is push it once and it pops out for you to adjust the temp.  Easy as that.  Just ask Jeff how easy it is... ;)

HSG, Not sure where the cheap feels (hee hee) are coming from...can't say I've even noticed the cruise control stock.  All the buttons, esspecially the volume control, are rock solid in ours.

My complaints include a couple rattles in the A-pillars and the spongy handling.  Come next year...bye bye RX330, hello BMW 530XiT...that'll solve that handling problem....
