CG-Lock === Awesome!
« on: February 02, 2006, 05:30:37 pm »
So I bought a CG-Lock for my Solo II for next year and for slush & slide this year if we ever get some snow.

I figured it would hold me into the seat better (as advertised) but was a little skeptical on how this would improve my laptimes as they say.

Well I understand now  :-*

Because you are held in so well, you feel as if you are one with the car, the seat is part of you which is bolted to the car, G-forces feel less prominate.  I hoped onto an on-ramp and at the point where I would normally back off from the roll of the car and the "Feel" of uneasyness I didn't get that feeling, I just kept speeding up and felt I could go faster and faster.

I don't think I'll use this on the street, I might get into trouble, but for auto-x this thing is going to be a great confidense booster, assuming I don't push harder than I can drive.

What's the difference between this and locking the seatbelt tight?  They always try to sell these at solo 1, but they don't let the people try it. The guy was like "Ok I have this in my car, you can look at it, but don't touch it". lol

It locks the bottom portion tight (lap part), pushes you back into your seat and you can't move... seriously.

Odd they wouldn't let you touch it, it's not like you can break it.

I've also heard these are very good, but do you have to watch where it goes when you undo the seat belt?  I think in a Lotus it bangs against the firbreglass by the door frame and takes the paint off, that's the only reason I didn't get one...

You have to guide it up, it's pretty heavy so chances are it won't retract properly, it should really only be used for track duty anywyas.
