X-Trail 2006 Pricing - Incentives
« on: January 31, 2006, 01:25:58 pm »
I am considering the purchase of a 2006 Nissan X-Trail SE, AWD, Auto.

I would appreciate any insight that can be provided regarding dealer invoice cost, factory to dealer incentives that I might not otheriwse be able to find out about.

I want to be in a position to negotiate the best deal I can.  I have seen some great info on these forums regarding the 2005 product, but would love to get an update for the 2006.

Thanks

JV     :bow2:

INV / MSRP:
'05MY - $28,414 / $30,898
'06MY - $28,538 / $30,998

Not sure of rates or special incentives.

I'm a fan of the X-Trail myself, so best of luck Johnny.

Should be able to get invoice plus $500, no admin fee, plus freight and taxes (incl. gas&air).  That would be a good deal.

nasmac - I am in the GTA (east end of Mississauga) - would appreciate any suggested dealers

chansen - as far as other info - I was realy just looking to corroborate, or to see if anyone else had insight into the possibility of hidden factory to dealer incentives that could create more room to work on the price - that said your info indicating I have $2400 less some amount over invoice (say $300-800) to work with is helpful.

Sherway Nissan is your best bet, the only problem is their lot is very cramped.  They gave me a quote over the phone that was about equal to the APA deal, which is exactly what I spec'd above.  This was exactly 12 months ago, but it doesn't sound like much has changed.

Last year, there were $500 off "coupons" available at the Nissan booth at the Toronto Auto Show, on later this month.  The actual deal was $250 from Nissan, $250 from the dealer, so don't be surprised if the dealer will only lower his best price by half of the coupon, assuming they run the same promotion this year.

If nobody here knows, the only other way to find "hidden" promotions would be to buy a quote through APA.ca or CCC, which I still think is a good idea.  APA will send you to Woodchester Nissan near Dundas and Erin Mills.  Avoid Dixie Nissan if you can - I found them to be arrogant.  I asked Dixie Nissan for their best price over the phone, and they told me to get back to them with the best price I got elsewhere, and they would beat it.  I did, and they refused to match it, let alone beat it.

When I bought our X-Trail last year, I had a bit of a chip on my shoulder from being taken on my last car purchase, so I shopped dealer against dealer and the APA price.  It wasn't worth it.  I've since done a straight APA deal, and it's so much easier.  The deal is more than fair, and being an APA member, they don't try to pressure you into paint, fabric or rust protection at all.  They already assume you're too smart for that.

How's that for "more info"  ;)

I would say Woodchester Nissan would do 500 over invoice. Try the dealers around you first by emailing them and telling what you want and for how much. If you dont get the 500 over invoice...let me know and Ill hook you up with my contact..we are only about a half hour away.

Chansen - great on the extra info - I plan to go to the auto show - so thanks for the heads up on the coupon possibility.  Also thanks for the heads up on Dixie.  I live near Dixie and that was one of the first places I went to when I was trying to decide what I would get - I got the "come back with your best deal" line at that time.

My view on the "come back" is to heck with you.  Either make me your best deal or don't  and don't expect me to come running back to you. :banghead:

Thanks

JV

Would appreciate you putting me on to your contact.

In the next week  or 2 I'd like to get a deal done.  + $500 sounds pretty good from my initial checks provided there aren't a bunch of additional admin (etc.) fees

I'll need to visit them to determine what they will give me for my 99 malibu with 200k.

Eeks.  Not much.  Consider selling privately.

FWIW, we've moved from Mississauga since then, and my wife is very happy with the service department at Alta Nissan, near 427 and 7.

Invoice + $500 is just that.  All taxes are extra, but no admin fees should be added.  If last year is any indication, someone will take that deal by late February, and it would get even better if Nissan carries the same Auto Show promotion.

Hi

This is a non trade in deal. Sorry I didnt know you had a trade in. I told him I would only send people who are ready to purchase and are not going to waste anyones time. So if you can try your other dealers in your area that would be great. At 500 over invoice he really dose not want to spend to much time on someone who might buy somewhere else closer to them.

Just tell me if you want to drive the half hour to make a deal and Ill hook you up ok. Iam going out of town for a bit, but Ill check the boards to see if you need my help

PS taxes are gst/pst , gas/air $100/75  and dont for get frieght/pdi around $1200.........no adim fee.

Planning to pick it up on Saturday.

Did a deal at plus $670.

Was offered a decent $1,800 for the 99 Malibu with 200k, but it looks like it is going to a family member . . . for a lot less.

Then it's settled.  Pics on Saturday.

Pics on Sunday wouldn't be so bad.

Don't even show you face around here if there are no pics by Monday.

nasmac, I'm interested to know your dealer contact, please.

A close friend is looking for an X-trail, no trade-in.

Thanks!

I have sent you a personal message

Wow!

Serious photo anxiety. :hide:

I got the Champlain Green - so far things are good.  The metallic green looks great in the sunshine.

This Saturday the beautifully sunny day in Southern Ontario made for a great demonstration of the mega sun-roof.

Only minor problem occured a couple of times when the upper passener glove box popped oped whilie crossing train tracks.   It seems to be holding fine now after giving it a good smack. :stfu:

Other nit is that the cargo net came without hooks ???.  I can certainly pick some hooks up at Home Depot, but in the showroom the sales guys couldn't stop showing me how many loops were in the
cargo area to hook items into.

All that said.  It is driving very nicely, quieter on the highway than I recall from test drives  ;D.  Seems to be drinking a little gas, but I suspect it could be break-in related.  Very comfortable and very different driving perspective from our other ride (2004 TL). Back seat passengers were also comfortable.

I hope to get it into ski country over the next few weeks.  We'll see how the AWD performs.

Photos driving around the burb's would not too terribly inspiring.
