I would still be calling it Expedition as well, if it weren't for me happy that they eliminated one of the "E" Ford SUV nameplates. It was getting a little ridiculous there.

So "Excursion-Valdez" is gone and "Expedition EL" is here. I doubt the Sierra Club will be any happier.

I read in another release that only the 5.4l V8 will be available on the new Expy.

If so, Ford will be hard pressed to gain market share on GM who will field 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 6.2 (Cadillac versions), behemoth 7+ liter V8 and turbo diesel to its new fleet of big SUV's.

Ford desperately needs the recently revigorated (in the Explorer) 4.6 and a bigger 6 liter + V8 with cylinder deactivation if they want to remain competitive and lend credibility to their claims of increased fuel economy.

Didn't realize the Expedition EL will be Expedition Max in Canada apparently due to the Acura EL... of course, it won't bother GM and their Malibu Maxx at all.  ::)
