Handsome looking SUV -- would slot nicely into the Chevy line up here below Equinox.

Ironic that GM's strategy is to sell the "Chevy an American icon" experience to Europeans simply by selling rebadged Daewoo products.  The Daewoo's seem to always finish dead last in their class in the Euro car mag comparos.  Might be good for GM sales in the short run, but makes you wonder whether it will hurt Chevy's image (whatever is left of it) in the long run.

DCX probably does the best job selling the "big open space" American image in Europe, judging by growing number of Grand Cherokees and Grand Voyagers (as they brand them) on UK roads.  DCX is bound to build on that success in Europe with the Jeep Compass and Patriot.

As a side commentary, it's sad to see SUV's in general making bigger inroads into the European market.  Maybe it doesn't matter what side of the Atlantic we live on -- consumers everywhere basically buy into the same idealized lifestyle/image crap.

If they build it we will come. Small sizes like the Tuscon and the Escape/Tributes of the world are popular. Yes I know there are others that I left out. But it's the size that counts- small is cute and in with many people. Bring it on and let's see what happens.

all GM DAT products are no longer "rebadged" Daewoo's.  They are all GM designed and engineered products.  GM DAT was bought out more than 3 years ago now.  Everything coming to the table now has been started by the new company, not by the previous.

Not bad looking. Could be a decent replacement for the Tracker since Suzuki (thankfully) went their own way with the Grand Vitara.

Are the engines still related to the past Holden/Daewoos?

The 2.4 at only 140 HP looks suspicious now that everybody else is at around 160 HP, or so.

Without some sort of VVT and all aluminum construction, which I presume, it might just be another gas guzzler, relatively speaking.

It looks like the offspring of the Equinox and the Volvo XC-90.  Not bad......not bad at all.   :)

Actually, most of the current cars were designed before GM bought Daewoo.  GM may have improved some aspects of the vehicles, but the Captiva is the first new design under GM tutelage.

The replacement for the Verona/Epica/Magnus, the Tosca (as it will be called where the Daewoo beand is used) will be based on the same platform as the 9-3/Malibu/Vectra/G6/Aura... Spy photos of it wearing Chevy badges have been taken of it in Seoul...

Diesels with clean fuel should be abundant now...  Funny that GM would debut an SUV perfect for the North American market, in Europe.  Guess that's why they make the big bucks  :-X
