Just do it!  If you want to drive across canada, to the arctic or whatever, just book your holidays and do it... it's really not a big deal.

I purchased an old Moto Guzzi motorcycle near Boston a year or so ago, flew out and rode it home to Calgary.  Bro in law rode his bike there and back (!).  We're talking a 1984 FJ1100 with a head gasket leak and an "unknown" 1981 Guzzi - not exactly new perfectly maintained vehicles.  It's surprising how much you THINK could go wrong before you leave and how little actually happens  :D

I have that Yukon trip route saved in my GPS unit. It was the second route I created and saved in it, first was home-work-home.

I guess don't get them mixed up or it is a long way home.  :)

In 1987 instead of going overseas for a holiday I bought a cheap used motorycle and spent 4 months traveling from coast to coast, Vancouver island to Newfoundland and back. It's a very interesting thing to see your own country like that.

As mentioned it's not that tough, if you can find the time. On the way I'd meet Japanese that had flown to Vancouver, bought cheap motorcycles, and driven all the way across the country without speaking any English whatsoever. They all made out ok. One guy left his wallet in the hostel and I chased him round the Cabot trail until I could frantically flag him down.

Why would anyone have a problem driving through the US?  Is it customs or the red necks you're afraid of?  :P

The US Gov has become completely Anal about Entry into their Country and even how long you can stay or even work there as well. Dual Citizenship even with Britain or Canada is not permitted after 3 years I beleive and either you take their total way or have to leave. I have children right now in this position and even the 6 year old grandson would be forced to become a citizen there and renounce his Born Canadian Rights. How many parts of this BS am I upset about right now as it is a ongoing  drama in our household.  :)
