What's the maximum km's (mileage) you have run a car before scrapping/selling it. You have to own it(new or used) for atleast 10,000kms and not seen or heard someone run it. If you can post the yr/make/model and how many kms you run it from what mileage to what then it would be great. This is just for my curiouisity..

I had a Bronco II with a 388K kms on it for a year or so. The thing was absolutely beat but I sold it for $3500 (Southern Alberta). |

Didn't you have something like 7K on the RAV before punting it Ovr? I think you even took it in for one oil change before getting the Highlander. |

Actually about 15k on the RAV, I think I did the 2nd oil change too...?? Wife has kept the Solara for 6 years and 5 months now, but still only 71kms on it... I have never had any one vehicle more than 5 and a half years and have never had one over 100,000 miles OR even kms. What did Forest Gump used to say about a box of chocolates?? |

The MDX is going to be our longest serving member of the family. It hit 2 years in December. What did Forest Gump used to say about a box of chocolates?? You'll take a bite and trade it in for the one beside it because your seat was uncomfortable? Wait....that's what you would have said. Your list of cars amaze me Ovr......truly. |

We'll never win any prizes, but my wife's Tercel (85) and first Corolla (93) were all 250-300,000; my old Celebrity (87) was at 290,000, the Camry (89) at 260,000, and presently my Subaru (98) is 275,000. All bought new except the Subaru had 14,000 km on it, and the Camry, which I got from my Mother in Law with 90,000 on it.
Typically 7-10 years when we replace them. We keep them until we feel the repair costs are starting to get out of hand, or they become unreliable.

1988 Audi 90, Tornado Red, 5-speed (non-Quattro) with spoiler. I loved that car. Gave her up at 296,000 km. Got too expensive to repair. She looked very much like this one: |

I had a 1986 F-150 Regular cab and box 4x4 that I took to +/-125000. That was the longest. Rut Ro is at 1024XX and I’m getting the itch. |

I wish I could think of a car like a refig just used and have no feels for. But damn there is always something different out there. I guess it like going on vacation, somepeople go to the sameplace year after year and we always go someplace different. Always want to try something new and only so many years let. |

I like to see 200,000 if I can but sometimes other factors come into play. '89 Chey Z24 = 250,000 (was leaking water inside only when it rained ) '02 Protege5 = 150,000 (g/f hated driving stick so we got the 6) '05 Mazda 6-Wagon = 27,000 and counting. (I'm already thinking of what will be next) Other: 03 Jamis Dakota (my mountain bike bought in '04) approx 10,000kms. Thinking of buy a road bike to keep the miles off this one. |

How is it possible that after electricity has traveled through hundreds of miles of power line then hundreds of feet (or yards) of romex in our home, that changing the last three feet of wire with something exotic, expensive (cool looking, and packaged in a pricey box) is going to make a difference?

Our 1993 Jetta was at 186000; but was costing way too much to keep on the road. Our 2001 Civic only has 35600 km on her. At this rate we won't need to replace her until 2020! |

1976 Buick Skylark- hand-me-down from dad. Car was worn out an disintigrating by 1990 even though I did my best to take care of it.Had over 15K Kms on it.
1990 Chevy Berretta GT. Extreamly poor GM product. Car was very well taken care of, but "wore out" prematurely. Had 150K Kms in 1997. Traded it for new 1997 Pontiac GP.
GP still going strong. 160K Km still going strong, after 2 engines and transmission rebuild, but showing signs of age. Cost cutting is starting to show. Still have a few years on it...... |

1970 VW beetle, with a slightly modified 1600 cc motor (dual carbs and header). Bought her with 80,000 kms on the odometer, and sold her with 192,000 kms. Original motor and tranny. Oil pressure was getting low, but she didn't smoke. |

1986 Toyota Cressida -190K when the tranny blew while merging onto the 400. Bought in 1993 at 140K, this was the last straw on this money pit (the legacy of a shady maintenance history ) and we sold it to the mechanic who had given us the bad news. We needed the incentive to move on, anyway! 1996 Honda Accord - 275K: bought new and still going strong (the legacy of a conscientious repair history ). Certainly, the above posts demonstrate that the combination of improved manufacturer quality (across most lines) and, presumably, adherence to maintenance schedules result in long-lived autos, these days. |

I have 295K on the '01 Golf now. Original everything including clutch, with the exception of routine servicings, tire and brake pad/rear rotor replacements, front right wheel bearing, front left strut mount, a glow plug relay, a MAFlow cleaning, some sets of headlights, and small whole in a part of the muffler (patched). Looking to get at least until fall with it, and will judge then whether or not to take the plunge for a new one - been through seemingly lots with that car.
Traded the '97 Accent with 145K.
