World Rally Championship 2006 Television??

It *looks* as if Speed Channel is not covering the 2006 WRC season! Remember a few years back when they showed an hour of highlights on Fri-Sat-Sun? Then they cut it back to 90 minutes on Sunday... now it looks like zero.

Does anyone know if there will be *ANY* TV coverage of the WRC this year (for here in Canada)??

Worse... so-called "sports" networks are wasting timeslots with "card games"!

I heard last month that TSN got CRTC approval to even show a limited amount of non-sporting events... like probably movies, sitcoms, etc. (maybe the actors have to throw a football once in each episode).

I remember one Sunday last year reading the Speed TV schedule... there was NO F1, Champcar OR Nascar race that day. But there was SIX HOURS of nascar programs on. Talk about beating a dead horse. Actually I'd rather tune in to WATCH them beat a dead horse. :-)

I agree, bassix.  Poker is NOT a sport, it is a game.

And Speed would be better off changing their name to The NASCAR Channel.   :P

Subaru and Ford are the only team  Factory Works Teams left. No sponsors money. Mitsu  and Skota pulled out at the last minute, no money to run the team, leave for the privateers. Not much competition this year.

Wait till 07 when some more big boys are back in the playing field.

There are a lot of great drivers in privateer cars now though... I think that will make it MORE competitive! :-)

Does anyone know what internet site has the best live coverage? Any of them have live video? I know there's a few pay sites that I would actually sign up with, if I knew the content was worth it.

The competitiveness of the drivers are always there. However, sports is a business, without enough manufacturers participating, there isn't a whole lot of "extra" media coverage. Like say, the Red Carpet show is better than the actual TV/Movie Award Show itself. The drivers will always be colorful in the pre-competition events, and the rally races will always be awesome, as always, just driver vs the road. But the media coverage just would not be the same. Hope Hyundai will joint the party in 07, along with Citroen, Skoda is a maybe, need time to develop a new car for the new rules. Mitsu might show up in a few events. Things will be better in 07.  ;)
