GM & Ford make pretty good Euro-cars, but they are good because they cost more.
Even Japanese car models, available in Europe and the UK, are higher quality in Europe but cost more.
I remember sitting in a North-America-made 2002 Honda Civic and comparing it against the British-made 2002 Honda Civic.
Whilst some parts door handles, switches, heating controls were clearly the same, the British Honda Civic used much more high-quality materials for the dash and especially for the seat. The British steering wheel was less plasticky (it was faux leather) and the centre panel was made of clearly better plastic.
The trade off is that before tax, my British Honda Civic cost a little over CAD $ 23,000. And that was the base automatic model, with the only extras being power mirrors, single CD player and air conditioning.
