You may discuss our cover story of the day in this thread....
Used Vehicle Review:
1995-2003 Oldsmobile Aurora
2001 Oldsmobile AuroraThe Aurora was Oldsmobile's near-luxury import fighter, reports Chris Chase.  Used first-generation models are likely to have more problems than second-generation models he reports, but "the Aurora makes a good, low-priced used alternative to many comparable imports," he says.   More...

Shame its FWD...  I know some guys who would probably love the idea adding twin turbos and racing it.

I remember it starred in the "USS Seaquest" way before it was officially introduced. The 1st series was a very interesting car.

Mechanically a disaster marking a tragic end to Oldsmobile.

I like the Aurora. Both the 1995 to 2003 bodystyles. Very unique and sleek looking.

The 1st gen car was/is a very sleek, sexy car - especially a dark green colour. Too bad about the upkeep. Prices are all over the map out here in west (from about $4k to over $10K for an early car) maybe due to them being quite rare. The Buick Riveria of the same time period was nicely styled too.

I thought the first one was very cool but too odd. Really liked the second one tho, and those rear fogs. Looks sleek and large.

The Aurora and Intrigue where prorbably some of the best cars that GM introduced. To bad they self sabotaged it via marketing and inter-company jealousy. I was at GM when it all went down.

I think both versions of the Aurora are awesome to look at, but would be unfortuantely too chickenshite to own either.  A distinctive, exotic looking car let down by poor marketing and poor quality build and components...

There was a lot of infighting, egos and jealousy issues internally at GM, which basically resulted in both the Aurora and Intrigue being abandoned. I unfortuantly saw all the ugliness first hand. Its too bad because both where great products from a driving and quality perspective. The best GM had mustered in a very long time.

The first Aurora could end up being a classic one day. Underappreciated...  Cry
