By request, pics of 02 Volvo S 60, bought middle of this year. Colour is Champagne, interior is "mushroom". 2.5 litre in-line 5 gas, with "low-pressure turbo" 198 hp +/-. Leather, dual climate controls, heated seat bottoms and backs, multi-CD shuttle located in trunk, power multi way seats-both driver and passenger, rear seats fold 60/40, power moon roof, trip computer. Will try to attach the photos, that are the actual request. N

It is wooonderful to drive! Seats are what I expect from Volvo - the best. Very adjustable; fore, aft, up down, tilt etc. Steering wheel adjusts for height (but not in and out). Suspension is damped, and smooths bumps etc, yet still keeps driver in touch with the road. Auto trans is smooth, although the change down could be faster. it hesitates a moment if one is toddling along, then boots it, probalby because its changing down more than one gear. Lots of oomph. Highway cruising is a breeze. i drove from Vancouver B.C. down in the middle of Washington state, then back, in one trip. Got out feeling fresh as a daisy, no fatigue, no dull aches.
It is not a sports car, but it's not meant to be, I hope. Wife has an S40 with turbo, much sportier. More road feel. Both excellent cars. |

Beautiful isn't she?
I have one in black, but with the same coloured interior. I fall in love with her all over again every time I drive her! |

Nice! Thanks for posting. Looks like a great machine and I agree... nobody builds car seats like the Swedes!
It's great to see so many people here who truly appreciate their vehicles. |

Ah, I thought you forgot about my request! Thanks for th pics and the write up. You're right, the S40 turbo would feel a lot sporter than your S60, however I doubt that your S40 is as refined as the S60 is. You have a very cool and impressive fleet of vehicles. Thanks for sharing! |

Thanks. Bullitt_Blue, you say fleet. Bear in mind the Lexus isn't mine, its my parents'. I just helped (as did several forum members) narrow down the choices, and meet with the sales people. I/we _do_ have Volvos and Spitfires. If my Dad is reading this, he's chuckling. You see, I have 2 Spits driveable, one under the knife, another in the wings, and one whose fate is yet unclear. Guess that makes me a Spitwhore, but not changing my name now. Besides, this is about the S 60. If our 88 740 with over 350K kms is any indication, I hope to be enjoying the S 60 for many years to come. |

Believe me, you will beenjoying the 740. My 240 has 285,000 kms and is still going A couple of things that S60 wanted to point out; first he loves the S60 and says it's in really good shape. But regarding the tilt steering, your S60 should have telescoping as well. If it does not, S60 suggests that you may possibly want to check it, as there might be a malfunction. Also the 2.5t engine was only offered on the 2003 models. the 02's had the 2.4t engine. It's a .4-litre, 5-cylinder aluminum engine with variable valve timing and light-pressure turbocharger. Output is 197 hp at 5,100 rpm and maximum torque is 210 lb./ft. at a low 1. Just for your personal reference |

Thanks b_b, I should have known better than gushing without double-checking. It is indeed a 2.4T. When the S40 was in for service, we got a newer (05?) 2.5 S40 as a loaner. Normally aspirated. Not as much fun to drive, in my opinion, and it had to work harder without the T.

Was it an Automatic? The normally aspirated engines can be quite peppy if mated to a manual transmission. Too bad they axed it for 2006 |

Yes, it was an AT. Compared to our 740 it had power, but compared to the S40T or the S60T, it had to work more -- the revs had to be higher to get the same kind of response. I like the looks of the tail of the 05 S40s better than the older ones.
BTW, the steering wheel of the S60 does too telescope. Just had to pull it a little more firmly. Wondering what else you folks know about my car that I don't! |

Did you know the front headlight wipers also spray a little bit of windshielf fluid onto the headlights as well as wipe?
That's the way our 850 does it. |

Ye gods, thanks, so it does! Just took a break from welding a Spit bonnet, and watched! Something else of note was the fact that there are 3 power seat memory buttons. |
