Thanks for the info. I'll check them out. I heard that Avante was sold recently..not sure if it's true.

The business manager at Avante posts regularly on torontomazda3.com and a number of people on that forum have dealt with him. He seems like a pretty straight shooter and good at staying in touch and resolving issues. Maybe the same guy siraquaman is talking about.

I had a mixed experience with my Protege5 and the Mazda dealer here where I live (the only one in town, and they acted like it). Sales tactics right out of the slimy high-pressure sales manual, but fairly decent service.

On a completely different note, I saw in your original post what you wrote about the side mirrors. The mirrors not adjusting far enough out was my number one pet peeve with my Protege. Don't tell me you still have to look at the side of your own car with the 3???

This is funny as I had the same issue no matter how much I tried to make that mirror go further out.  Hopefully not the same problem on the 3.  The mirrors on the 6 are bigger than the P5's plus go out quite a ways.

Well Avante had built-up to 2-3 locations at one point. I believed at one time the dealership called Toronto Mazda in North York had an Avante sign on it (but I could be mistaken). Then the one in the auto mall further north on Yonge and the original location in Richmond Hill. It may be that one of the other locations were sold, or all of them. I'm not sure myself.

Congrats on a great car Careener.  I'm still enjoying my loaner (looks to be identical to yours except for the colour) from my Mazda dealership who is seemingly having the same problem getting my MX5 in.  I wonder if yours was in the same batch?  I'm still sitting here waiting for the saleman to call back from the Voicemail I left over an hour ago.  It's been two weeks today for them to deliver a car I was originally told was on a lot in Barrie, ON (an hour and a half away).  Your stories with the PDI are making me very nervous...

I'm going to be off the board for a bit for Christmas vacation. I wish everyone a great time. See you in the new year.

The car I ordered was supposed to be in plentiful supply in the GTA and they ended up bringing one in from several hours away. The issue with shipping is that they won't send a truck up there for you, they wait for an empty one coming back. MX-5 is an awesome car..I hope you enjoy it and have some fun with the loaner  ;D. As for the PDI just make sure to take your time to look over the car and try to resist the urge to just jump in it and race off. Good luck.

Mmmm........Mazda 3.  Congrats on the car...though you had to endure more pain and suffering than should be expected.  Customer service.....yeah right.

We just took delivery on our new 2006 Mazda3 GT 5spd from Mazda of Toronto, and I have to say this buying experience is the best one we've had to date!

I had already reviewed and driven some cars to replace our '99 Protege and found the Mazda3 to offer a great set of features, build quality and value.  But I dreaded going through that car buying 'experience'.  The purchase of our previous Protege was pretty painless - we used AutoByTel, but that service packed it up in Canada shortly after.

This time I bought a wholesale price report from CarCostCanada and was offered a wholesale+markup deal from an Orangeville dealership.  I posted the deal asking for some feedback about it on the Mazda3 forums and got a response from Jeff (aka 'the biz') at Mazda of Toronto that he would make it worth the drive to let him quote me.

We exchanged some email and worked out a deal that beat anything I had seen so far.  A couple of faxes and the deal was done.  The car was in stock so a week later (last night) we drove in from Guelph to pick up the car.  Completing the transaction was a breeze, no surprises, no games and exactly what was agreed to over email.

I would highly recommend this dealership (at least for purchase, I have no experiences from the service side) and specifically Jeff.  He was professional, had a great sense of humour and made the whole process a pleasure.  It doesn't hurt that he is also a Mazda3 owner and loves his car!
