2006 Range Rover Supercharged

2006 Land Rover Range Rover superchargedThe 2006 Range Rover Supercharged is now the King of the SUV hill, says Michael La Fave. "With more power and an even heftier price-tag, the Range Rover Supercharged is undeniably the plutocrat's SUV of choice."     More...

I would go for the RR sport: less money and more fun to drive while still looking sweet.  I would be surprised if the majority didn't agree with me.

I think for $118 large, I would rather get my performance from a BMW M5, or if that's more than $118k, even from the new M3. I fail to see the point (other than some ppl will buy them) of these almost 3 ton, "performance" SUVs. It sure isn't off-roading so it has to be the snob appeal of having a mega buck truck that just looks tough, but doesn't go as well as many sedans costing far less.

Too cynical, maybe.  ??? :P

These things are pure image.  Big powerful style, big powerful engine, big this big that...power here, power there...it's all to show the common man how the owner is big and powerful.  It's not about utility or anything...it follows the same philosophy of an M5, Z06, 911, or anything else that extreme....the thing can go....but every owner of these mega buck vehicle likes to pull up in something somebody else can't.

Yes it is all that. If I had that kind of money and Wiffy was going to drive an SUV I would probably get something similar. :run:

If I were to ever lose my mind and blow over $100G's on an SUV, first take me aside and slap me in the face. Second, point out as Ovr did that there are MUCH sportier ride in that price range like and M5.

If that STILL doesn't work, then take me to the asylum.  ;D

In all seriousness though, I think this is an impressive machine. Land Rover's, in my opinion, are very cool SUV's. If money was no object and I could own both a nice sports car AND an SUV, this would be high on my list.

You could have bought a nice sedan for that 35-40 grand your Highlander cost you, no? Why doesn't the same logic applies to someone buying a more expensive SUV? If he wanted a M5, he would have bought the M5. But he wanted an SUV, so he got the Range Rover. Obviously performance wasn't his top priority as he would have bought a M5 instead... but what if he wanted an SUV with some major power? There aren't many better options than the Range Rover Supercharged for that...

Besides, Sidney Crosby bought a Range Rover (not sure if Supercharged or not) as his very first vehicle a few weeks ago. I saw it mentionned in a newspaper article. That's a pretty cool first vehicle...  ;D

We leave that to the marketing guys....   :o

The RR SS (who the hell calls it the Rangie???) is a superb machine.  It's true excess...much like the competitors such as the Cayenne Turbo and X5 4.8is...obviously there are vehicles out there that will be much quicker.  Hell, a SRT4 or WRX is much quicker than this thing....you don't need to get into an M5 to go quick....but it appeals to a select few who have the financial means to get their bums into one of these beasts.  Powerful and sturdy image.  I'd put one in my garage if I had the money.  I don't care what anybody says.  Then I'd go and buy an M5 and the 911 to keep in company.

My Maserati does one-eighty-five
I lost my license, now I don't drive
I have a limo, ride in the back
I lock the doors in case I'm attacked.

I just don't get the RR, and it's 'cause I'm a car guy.  Put me in with the crowd that would spend their moolah on something else.  Need interior room?  Why bother with an SUV when you could have an E55 Wagon?  Need off-road?  Heck, I'd buy a Cayman S and either find a used Defender 90 or an old Bronco and mod it for SERIOUS off-road and spend the same, or less.  Heck, I'd buy a sports machine and get a Uni-Mog.  Want to really make an "off-road" statement at "The Club?"  Get a Uni-Mog!

Yup, but the Queen has a Range Rover.  Oh, la-lah!  I've always looked to the Queen for guidance when picking my car.  That old hag doesn't even DRIVE.  She's too busy hoping she outlives Charles so he won't EVER get to be King.
No place I'd rather be...

A while back I saw a black one lined up next to a Charger at the lights. On green, the Charger was left behind. I don't think it's the hi-po SRT-whatever. But it got two exhaust pipes.... and we know cars with two exhaust pipes are da fAstaRRR.  :rofl2:

why buy a Corvette when you can have better performance from a bike?

0-100km/h in about 2 sec, 10.0 quarters at 130mph and 320 km/h top end?  For less than the down on that Z-06.  Geez, I miss 'er.
