No!!! They are all way overpriced. You can get the same stuff at Canadian Tire or Krown for conciderably less. If you go with the extended warrenty make sure its the manufacturers warrenty. The third party ones are useless. Dealer that sold dad the Alero insisted that the third party was way to go-untill we read the fine print and realised who really benefits.

Hi Guys,

I posted this message in another thread before realizing that this thread seems to be more relavent to my sort of questions.  Anyways, here it is:

I've been reading some of the posts in this and other threads and I must say that I am rather impressed with the excellent commentary :D, particularly surrounding the 2006 Honda Civic.  I am looking to buy my first car and am seriously considering this one -- in fact, I was at a Toronto Honda Dealership this afternoon (my second visit) and I had a surprisingly enjoyable conversation with the salesperson.  The model that I am interested in is the DX-G (MSRP $20,280), and the dealer told me that they are having a sale right now and he can sell it to me for $19,495 ($785 off MSRP).  Considering that the invoice price is apparently listed at $18,135, how much more of a deal could I expect other than the abovementioned offer? Perhaps $500 more to bring it to $19,000?  Of course, this figure does not include PDI ($490), freight ($735), air tax ($100), and 15% GST/PST taxes (approx $3000).

Furthermore, I am a recent university graduate, and I am disappointed that Honda has scrapped the graduate incentive for the Civic ($500).  Because of this, I feel I have to "earn" this sum back by haggling -- afterall, I didn't go to school for nothing!  ;D

What do you guys think?

Unless you're an engineering grad, that may already be the case.
