To be completely honest with you, I'd sell in in the next 3 weeks because in Alberta, any car greater than 15 years old will need a safety inspection before it can be road worthy.  By the sounds of your vehicle, a chocolate bar is what it would be worth.

I'd give you money not to give it to me...  might be best off donating it to a high school.  You can get tax credit for that.  Read an artical about it somewhere (here, likely).

I know when I went to get insurance, the lady informed me that my car was on the cusp of requiring to pass inspection before they would insure it.  Not sure if it's yearly or a one time thing.....my thought is a one time inspection.

Its a one time inspection when you first insure your car. Often they forget to ask for it. AMA forgot to ask for one on my Rx-7 - it would have passed but it saved me a few bucks. Basically lights, brakes, seat belts, etc have to be in good shape. Out of province ones have to go though a tougher test. But if you already own the car no inspection needed (ever).

Ok,  I  think  that  law has been  around  for a  while.  Any  car over ten  years old  has  to  have an  independent inspection before you can insure it. :'(

It's not a 'law', it's a requirement that insurers have, prior to insuring a car over 10 years old.  I don't know where teh 15 year thing came from MDX?

Where I got 15 years?  When I registered and insured my 1991 318is, my insurance company informed me that vehicles older than 15 years require the inspection.  My car, being 14 years old, did not require any inspection to get insurance.  Where did this 10 year thing come from?

Do you not require a safety inspection when you purchase the car anyways?

Duck, donating the car is a great idea.

As for what it's worth, well if the the Guage reads F it's worth 2x than if on E.
