Holy I Saw A Scion xB Today!
« on: December 07, 2005, 08:41:07 pm »
No joking,

I was in the Stone Road Mall parking lot here in Guelph today and what drives by? A Scion xB! It had Ontario plates too so the owner obviously imported it here. Very cool ride. Too bad we don't get some of the Scion stuff. Why not market it here as an Echo/Yaris van or something? It is cool to see a car which is rare or unavailable here.

I've seen them around and even in the small town as Cornwall.  Lots around, worth alot to get one here though.

The Toyota dealer in CrowFoot in Calgary had a Black xB on the lot, and was asking some rediculous $$$ for it, like $35G. Fack that for a used used 4 banger.

There's one here in Kelowna, some business has signage on the side of it. Funky, I guess, but I wouldn't want it, regardless of price.

They are heavier, slower, and much less fuel efficient than an Echo. The looks? - not my cuppa. They are well equipped, but certainly not worth the $$$ in my opinion.  ::)

I saw one today as well, actually...  a fairly rare site on our roads, but the Mazda dealership imports them and sells them...  they had two on their lot a couple of weeks ago.  I stopped to take a look - asking around $25k for them.  I told the guy if the pricing was more in line with the Yaris than I would consider it...  but for that kind of money one can buy a nicely equipped, well-performing car (coughSIcough).

I rather like the styling - not sure if I would buy one based on it, but it is interesting.  I imagine the Scion offers decent value in the States, and I hear they're actually quite practical.

The Nissan dealer in Kamloops had 2 Scion's for a while this spring/summer, one total blinged (is that a word?) out with extra large, very low profile wheels/tires.

I thought they were sort of weird, not my kind of vehicle.

Wow, I didn't realize that these things were that common. I'd pay $25 for one because you are getting PT Cruiser like space, utility etc. Personally I think it is pretty cool; but I love their little coupe more (reminds me of an earlier Celica). The little Yaris hatchback is still a great little car.

The tC is a cool car and, imo, represents good value (in the US starting at $16 000).  But they can't import them into Canada...  and if they could, chances are it would be ~$28k, more than a Civic Si or Tiburon V6.

Shame, though.  I would look at the tC if they sold Scion here.

We've sold two here.  IMO it looks like a shrunk AStroVan.  It drives like a bus, and it is gutless.  Totally gutless.  Really Gutless.  There are many better buys for $25K.

they have a silver too - I think its mostly there to attract traffic to the stealership.

You're probably more likely to see them in Guelph than most other places in Ontario.  A number of the GTA Toyota dealers have them, but these guys seem to carry a stock of them all the time and they're right in your back yard!

Isn't there a 15 year rule or something on bringing these cars in?  Has this car been crash tested in Canada?  I dunno, seems kinda fishy to me.

No Mun, all the car has to do is meet TC’s regulations and it can be brought into the country. Some minor modifications may be required. Only the bumper crash test is the kill joy for getting some of cars.
