Hi, I have found this thread (http://www.canadiandriver.com/discus/messages/67/29847.html?1112654328#MT) and inside there are some nice pics. [But I don´t know how to post inside this thread - is it closed?]

I found there this quote: "(trying to get the cars as muddy as possible)"

Hey! Here´s a pic from a real selfmade muddy XC70 ;-)))

Regards
Torsten - the www.xc-fan.de

Haha, nice ! Thumbs up  I'm going to move this to Reader's Rides.

The old board software is all merged into this software so it is postable you just have to find it.  It's as simple as replacing the post # into the new format.  So here it is :

Ahhh... the real way an XC70 should be driven! Looks like you had lots of fun with it!  Cool Burn Out

Very cool Volvo and thanks for posting the pics.

Have you done any mods to it, or is it mostly stock?

I love how we get visitors from out of country that speak a different language then apologize for their bad English.....

99% of the time their English is better than ours!

All fun and games till somebody losses an oilpan. Shocked I wonder if they are using something tougher than the decorative "plates" that XC70's are equipped with in Canada.

Looked at the picture closer. Looks like no plate at all! Shocked

... my XC70 is not modified for Offroad. I just mounted the additional lights and the small "SÖK" (Elch, elk, ...)

But keep in mind, on that tour I have damaged some parts (will cost around 2000€ only material!) and now I know about, if I writing about drinving a Volvo "Off Road" (and some more experience is documented on my website).

The Volvo XC70 is not really made for daily work away from the road ;-)

Torsten - the www.xc-fan.de

(The attachments show the air filter case and the dismounted Air-Mass-Counter (I´m sure not to use the right translation) that was defectiv and has to be changed with my local dealer - just that small sensor cost 500€ only material)

2000 euros in damaged parts? I thought the XC70 was a bit tougher than that... looks like it's no SUV substitute!

That's one badly messed up Mass Air Flow Sensor - I can see why it needed major work!!

Thanks for posting and thanks for the pictures, Torsten.

I agree, don't think XC70 are real off-road vehicles !! Not really tough enough.  Wink

I wonder how your Highlander would have faired on such a terrain though... or for that matter, how any vehicles would have faired.

You know, they really should do these kinds of tests once in a while... run all of them through a rough terrain and evaluate the damage costs afterwards... I wonder if trucks and "real" SUVs would really do that much better than car-based vehicles... Of course, I wouldn't want to pay for the damanges incured on all those cars...  Wink
