Spark Plug Removal -- 1999 Jimmy
« on: December 05, 2005, 12:05:57 am »
Does anyone know what tool is required, or other means, to remove the middle spark plug from the left bank of cylinders in a 1999 Jimmy, which is just like a S-10.  I've heard it is necessary to take out the steering column.  Can that be true?  Thanks for your help.

Try placing a correct fitting spark plug type socket on the plug and then from underneath use a wrench on the end of that socket to brake it loose.

Or look to see how you can collapse the steering shaft into itself.  Probably just a couple of bolts.

Remove driver's side front tire, it's accesible through the wheel well.

I believe Maritime is correct on this procedure as its almost the same as some of the Astro type Mini-vans which we pull the front wheels off of to get at certain plugs. Too hard any other way. Push the rubber cover out of the way and there it is.  :)
