You may discuss our cover story of the day in this thread....
First Drive:
2006 BMW M5

2006 BMW M5The V10-powered BMW M5 is the fastest, most aggressive iteration yet of one of the world's landmark sport sedans, reports Laurance Yap. "There's no car on the planet that lets you so comprehensively tweak its behaviour to your own preferences," he says. "One wonders if BMW has gone a bit too far in trying to make the M5 an extreme sports car," he muses.     More...

With all of their electronics, I can only imagine what these cars will cost to repair as they get older. Hurl

I'd imagine in 15 years it will be similar to Porsche 928, BMW 8-series, Maserati Bi-turbo now - quite cheap buy but massive maintaince costs.

Personally, I'm not crazy about the "Can someone help me find my keys?" camera angle.  Unless you're shilling wheels/tires or exhaust systems, it doesn't show off the car well.  But I've grumbled about that before and I already know what the 5-series looks like, so I'll submit to the reper(con)cussions....  I Agree I'm with you DSW. I really dislike the low camera angle shots. Most cars are not flattered by the angle, and since I rarely view a car from 1' above the pavement, such shots give very unrealistic impressions.  Tongue Thumbs Down

I think the electronics are a little overkill...  17 transmission modes? 2 power modes?  Jeez...

I prefer the thinking behind the last gen M5... "Here's a 5 Series with gods own motor and a 6 speed...  Away you go..."

Maybe those shots are to impress the ones who really choose our cars - the dogs! Some of those shots look like they were taken from your avatar's point of view.  Grin

With most electronics today (ie stereo receiver, cell phone, mpg player) it's cheaper to throw the 'broken' item away and buy a new one.  What will we do with these 'broken' electronic enhanced cars in five to eight years?   Will they be throw away cars, because they're too expensive to fix?
