'99 Intrepid
« on: November 27, 2005, 10:49:07 pm »
Alright all, got a question. I've looked eeeeeverywhere, and I'm serious, I mean everywhere trying to find the black book value for our 1999 Chrysler Intrepid. All the sites I've been to require some sort of deposit to find that info  :-\ So, if anyone knows the black book value, any help would be great :) It's a 2.7L ((horrible engine as I've gathered from prvious posts)) and like I keep mentioning, a '99 model. Not sure if any other details would be needed LoL, but when we first bought it last winter, my dad ((he's a car nut)) looked into the black book value and said it was around 14000 dollars, is anyone able to give me a proper assessment??? Thanks all :) By the way, all the posts I've read about Intrepids have helped out a lot :) next time we bring it into the dealership for an oil change I'll know what to do :)

You need to state model and mileage.  But with 100,000 kms in base model you are looking at 3k.  You can access the Canadian Black Book thru the Toyota Canada site but it isn't 100% accurate.  Unfortunately there is zero demand for your car.  The problem with that site is that it doesn't account for local market conditions or actual street values, but its not far off in most cases.

that helps a lil bit thanks :) but yea unfortunately it's over 100K LoL, she's still got a couple years left in 'er  ;D we can hope. we bought it for 10, 000 at a five star chrysler jeep isuzu in london ontario and the most mileage was put on it from moving out here to new brunswick, personally had we stayed in london i think the mileage would be a little under 100K still :/ we bought it and it was probably around 80  :-X

The "Black Book" is just a start.  I'd be willing to bet you'd have a tough time getting $4000 trading that car in.  The BEST way to find the true wholesale value is to go to a few lots and find what someone will give you cash for it.
No place I'd rather be...

Your dad must need glasses if he told you the black book (dealer w/s) value was 14,000 a yr ago. Chrysler sells those things new for not much more than 20 grand.  They sold millions to the car rental companies who just dump them on the used car market after 6 mos..  There are tons of used one always for sale cheap.

They actually drive quite well, very roomy, but I don't know their repair problems.  Chrysler is notorius for selling cheaper cars that end up with low resale.   Most of their mini vans had tranny problems (same trannys as in Intrepid?).

The list is far too long for me to type!  Engines, trans, AC, electrical, steering, suspension, etc.  Pretty much everything on the car is poorly made.
