84im.  Don't be an ass.
Do you have to have "X" amount of posts to give your opinion on here?  I think not.

In respect to the CSX vs. Civic thing, I gotta say that the CSX is different and the same.  Driven both and the CSX is a nicer drive, with better content.  Is it worth the extra money?  I was hard line NO when I saw the prices and the vehicle.  As time passes, it grows on you, and price wise, you start to realize that its not priced THAT bad.  Not great but not bad.  If I thought it was great I would have got one by now.

Test drive them back to back for more than 15 minutes, then you you might see why some people like it.
No one is trying to make YOU buy it, so no need to trash someones opinion.

Good post Frosty.

I was a little put of by the CSX, especially the price, when it first came out too. But it has really grown on me the more I see it. I haven't driven one, but I would guess that it is meant to be a little more refined than a civic and have a bit more cache. It's not a bad car at all IMO. Civics are everywhere these days, so having something a little bit different is a bonus.

Yes, I think you do.
Usually, for the first while you limit your posts to general comment, and don't tell someone they don't know what they're talking about.  Fastrack could have said what he had to say without  telling me I didn't know what I was talking about.  That wasn't needed.  A comment like that is asking for a negative response, and he got it.  And since the comment was aimed at him and not you, I don't know why you're getting involved.
And you know where you can put your 'don't be an ass' comment    Kiss Kiss Kiss

The fact that you said When it's all said and done, and you've taken away the extra few ponies and the leather seats, you're left with a Honda Civic when in fact, you get a whole lot more than that in the CSX than the Civic shows that fasttrack had every right to say that you didn't know what you were talking about. And what the hell does post counts have to do with anything with the validity of opinions? I have 5 times the amount of posts that you have, does that make my opinions necessarily better than yours? That's just garbage.

No, Shnak, it certainly doesn't.  We all know your opinion isn't better than the rest of ours here.  Smiley  The ol' 1-star rating system spoke to that point, ha ha.  Smiley

Seriously though, if we compare the equipment levels and pricing of the CSX to a tarted up Jetta, I don't know that it seems like it's overpriced anymore.  By adding power and equipment levels to get more of what your after, is it any more foolish than someone spending more money to go from a DX model to an EX model Civic?  There's a few grand price difference there too.  I applaud Honda Canada for caring enough about their market to do the research and give people what they apparently want.

Anyway, ' take away the few extra ponies and some reliability from a Monster Miata and you're just left with a Miata.  Why would someone pay more for that?   Grin

No Demos, you don't know better.  Never have and never will.
Shnak, you could have 10,000 posts and I'd still think you're an IDIOT Drool

If anyone makes a negative comment to me they can expect a negative comment back (quid pro quo). Outback could have easily made his case without telling me that I didn't know what I was talking about.   Saying that it was his option and he has the right to state it is B.S.  Shnak might disagree, but then again, he's the master at negative comments and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time (then he comes crawling back, begging forgiveness).

Your free to think we're all idiots, if you like.  That doesn't change the fact that everyone here is entitled to an opinion, regardless of how many posts them have...

Look, 84im had an opinion....fastrack had a differing opinion.

If everybody's entitled to their own opinion.....what's the ruckus about?   Angry

I seems a bit annoying that you always have to get the Acura to upgrade the motor in a Civic, talking 4-door here.  The 155 HP should have been part of the EX level Civic and the SI motor should have been standard on the CSX.  Over 25 grand for a compact sedan that doesn't even have a moonroof is crazy.  If you take financing rates into account you could have an arguably better equiped Accord right now.

You have to get pretty close to a CSX to be able differentiate it from a Civic.

You make no sense.  THe 155HP engine is perfect fo rthe acura... It's got more low end torque then the SI motor, it's a more daily-driveable car for those normal Acura shoppers...

Man am I glad you don't work for Honda  Shocked

I agree...  the Si motor is tuned for performance, the CSX does not need (nor imo would most of its buyers want) a high-strung motor like that.  I can see the CSX motor in the EX, though..  iirc, in the last generations) the base model had 115, the Si had 127, and the SiR had 160hp...  and our Si was the American EX.

Yeah, I'm sure putting the 197 HP K20 into the CSX would be universally hated by Honda/ Acura fans.  The TSX is not exactly a torque monster but it does fine.

Bah. Badge engineering doesn't work for GM and it doesn't work for Honda.

Badge engineering rarely works....but proper differentiation of the vehicles utilizing the same underpinnings can be done.  The Civic and EL have been quite successful, as has the Cavalier and Sunfire twins.  But you got to know when to stop....you can re-badge with every badge you get your hands on.

I went to the CSX Launch Party back in Nov and got to test drive it. I don't know but the extra hp is negated by the extra weight. I tested the new Civic EX already in October so I knew what to expect when entering the CSX. It doesn't feel any more powerful than the Civic. Also, torque is a bit weak under 4000 rpm (I think VTEC kicks in around 3,800rpm). The paddle shifters shift quite quickly, better than the IS250/350 (sadly) I tested also back in October. I think the prices between the trim levels are reasonable but the base price of $25k is a bit steep. I mean, I remember when a 1.6EL started at $18k! haha.

The Civic EX manual at $22,180 ($23,380 for auto) works just fine. All I get for the extar $3k ($4k if you subtract the moonroof from the EX), is an Acura badge, a bigger engine (no difference as I tested it), automatic climate control and integrated turn signals on the mirrors.

The old EL, has much as it was a Civic, still had a low price that made it attractive. Don't tell me Acura jacks the price up just because it wants to become more of a premium brand (RSX price jumped from $25k to $27,200 for the 05 model.)
