avro206 - very sharp rides, both of them. Is the '74 original or have you done some restoration work? You say original color, but has it been repainted in the original color. Nice pix, on Crescent Road there also. It's one of my favorite backdrops for shots in Calgary also. My mom-in-law lives not far from there. The other is one the old road to Cochrane?

Thanks for posting them.

Not Crescent road but good guess. Earl Grey Crescent....in Mount Royal. Can't see the tower from Crescent road--I don' think. And yes thats the 1A going down the hill into Cochrane.

The 74 was repainted as close as the guy could get. I have parked next to a yeelow 74 GTO in Calgary and I couldn't tell the difference.

Nice Mustang Bullit you have--I test drove one when they were new and liked it. Good to see another Calgarian here.

avro206 - yes, I see my error now, it crossed my mind that something was wrong with the "Cres.Road" shot, but couldn't figure what it was. I have up and down that road leading up to Mount Royal many times as in the mid-70s I lived a while on 12A St.SW in the 3600 block.

I love your Formula and it's nice to see Firebirds that are something other than the TransAm (which are nice also).

Thanks for your comment on the Bullitt, it is a neat car.

Ex-Calgarian really, grew up 90 miles NE of Calgary and lived in Calgary from '66 to '76. Am back every summer to visit family and friends there. Calgary is still one of my favorite cities, and I have lived in Edmonton, Vancouver, Denver, Houston and now Kelowna, in addition to Calgary.

Nice pictures, I like the backdrop too.

Must be nice having no front licence plate, paying less for gas, and getting snow.  Try the SS in the snow yet?

That's a nice Firebird.  Very nicely kept indeed.  The Cobalt isn't too shabby either.  Good stable of American muscle there Avro.

Great cars.

I love the 'Bird and have actually driven one of the same year and engine but in Orange (original colour) and loved it.  It idled very quiet until you just touched the 'loud' pedal and it came to life.  Love that sound.  It was my Aunt's car and I had the chance to buy it but my Dad talked me out of it (I was only 20 at the time) saying some reason I don't remember.  I'm sure he was probably more concerned about the speed of the car and me driving it.

Older Alberta plate, probably from when he originally bought the car - a 1970's Alberta plate.

Love the Firebird!  My mother had a '75 Formula when I was in high school....ahhh the bad ol' days.  Hers was maroon in colour and had the Trans Am style trunk spoiler as well as the twin hood scoop yours is sportin'.  I think I prefer it with less junk on the trunk.   8)

Fun to drive, but a handful in Nova Scotia winters.  "Tail out" was...um...a way of life.  :-X ;D

sad thing is...the Cobalts faster! At least when the Firebird was stock.

:( Put in a new cam/intake in the Firebird but now my carb is screwed. Give it too much gas and it bogs or stalls---have to get the revs up and then get on it.

Oh well...its got  really mean idle that shakes the car 8) And all the neihgbours can hear it rumbling down the street.

And yes the plate is 1974 Alberta one---got it off ebay from Edmonton. Thanks for the replies, I do enjoy crusing around in it. Those damn Trans Ams are soooo common! :D

Nice Cars!  How do you like the 2.4 Ecotec?  The Variable Valve timing must give it a nice strong feel across the rpm band?  What do you think?

Sweet rides! Old and new muscle! How is the Cobalt? I knew that they had the 2.4L in the Pursuit GT; but I didn't realize that they had it in the Cobalt SS in addition to the 2.0L 205 hp supercharged mill. I wonder how you would fare against the supercharged 2.0L. You have less powew; but more displacement (I'm not sure how you compare with torque). How do you like your Cobalt with repect to fit/finish, ride, handling, ergonomics etc? It seems like GM is actually in the compact game for the first time in well over a decade.
