Hello, I am new on this forum.

I am shopping for a Subaru dealership to service my new 2005 Imprezza SE. I moved to Calgary from Vancouver last week. I found out that there are "Centaur Subaru" and "Calgary Subaru" in Calgary. Has anyone had any experince with either dealers service (regular maintenance)? Any comments would be much appreciated.

Thank you everyone in advance.

Years ago when Centaur was still selling Volvos they burnt my father's car to ground during a routine injector cleaing/ oil change. They then tried to weasel out of the responsibility and in the end tried to cobble a new wiring harness etc together. My father called BS and Centaur ended up "buying" the car only after legal action was threatened. Same owners? Don't know.

When I lived in Calgary a long time ago, Centaur was horrid. Maybe changed now? Don't know.

I bought an Impreza from them 3 months ago, and they seemed OK.  Calgary Subaru is more "upmarket" (joint Jag dealer).

Have had it serviced once by them  - routine 6k oil change.  I wouldn't rate them as anything beyond the standard.  Whatever gets you the best deal.

I first started dealing with Centaur Subaru in Dec. 2009. This is an excerpt from a letter I have sent them regarding the quality or lack thereof about the service they are providing. This letter was written on Jan. 22, 2010.

I have been waiting for repairs since Dec. 27. The first time the parts were to have been ordered, they were missed and you failed to order them. The following week the parts arrived and you started to put them on.  At this time you discovered that there was another part that needed to be replaced also so I gave the go ahead to get the part and install it when it arrived. So now this part has arrived, and instead of me being able to pick up my car today, now I am being told I may have to wait another week or more? When you ordered the part you neglected to book shop time to install it. This is very poor management and customer service on your part!
I went to Centaur because of bad service experiences I had received from Calgary Subaru.

As I said in a post here over 4 years ago, Centaur was horrid in the 60s/70s and I guess they have not changed. One would think after about 40 years of being a marginal dealership, Subaru Canada would take some action.

Having said that, it seems that many Subie dealers are marginal. Certainly the one here is as to sales dept, the service dept is average.

Hi, harveyjphartz and ovr50,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I decided (4 years ago Smiley) to try Calgary Subaru but the service experience was disappointing. So, I tried Nurburgring (an independently-owned garage) near Chinook Centre.

The experience was so positive that I stayed with Nurburgring until Sept 2009 when I moved to Mississauga ON. So, I am back looking for a good mechanic at the moment.

Any suggestions for a good mechanic for my Subaru in the Mississauga area?

(Since I started this thread 4 years ago, I think it would be ok for me to hijack it... Wink )
