This is a late 60s Simca made in France, rear engine liquid cooled, great fun if you dont try to "speed shift".

Eddy, was yours a Rallye version of the Simca 1000?  I remember first discovering these when I was on vacation in France when i was 13...

Funny story.... I had been riding motorcycles for a few cold years and since all my pals had four wheels , I thought I would splurge for the winter.
The Simca was the cheapest car in the newspaper, Dad told me not to buy that "french crap" as it would be nothing but trouble.
The owner made a point of telling me that since the engine was in the rear, the front suspension would last forever. Also that these cars were great rally cars in Europe. So after finding out that rally cars could fly, I found the nearest humpback railroad bridge and started to Yump it.

What a hoot.. that is untill the front suspension protested by jamming a spring into the trunk ...Dad was not impressed.
The Simca survived one year of slaloming into snowbanks and speed shifting before I figured out Dad was probably right .

P.S. no it was not the rally version

That would be a great car with a  2.2 air cooled VW motor in the back.   I've always wanted to by a Fiat 850 and put an air cooled 150 hp in the back :bounce:  :bang:  :surrend:
How can you tell I'm a VW air cooled motor junkie from way back?
