my handy-dandy Excel worksheet I made up and it goes anywhere from 10.39 to 13.26 litres/100km. Using the same handy-dandy worksheet I converted the kilometres to miles and the litres to gallons and figured out my mpg. So....Is that American or Canadian mpg? I dunno...

At the high end of consumption (13.26L/100km) you're around 21 miles per imperial gallon.  At the other end (10.39L/100km), you're around 27 miles per imperial gallon.

US gallon = 3.75 litres
Imperial gallon = 4.546 litres

Pffft. Why are you ruining my good mood about my car??

Yeah, it sucks. 20-21 mpg on a good day. Mostly backroad 100......uh, 80km/h driving.

CP:  When you quote your mileage numbers are you saying them in Cdn or USA mpg?

I just did a run up to Tobermory from TO and returned 8.13 L/100 over the 626km drive.  That is 34.75 Cdn or 28.93 USA mpg.  It includeded everything from rush hour traffic getting out of the city, a 4km stop and go (ramp to 401 from 410 was closed) on the way home, cruise set at 100kph on backroads (good thing to) and the odd run up to 150kph for fun.

You must have a heavy foot but I can understand with how much fun this car is to drive.

The absolute best mileage I ever got was 31mpg after drive consisting mostly of 130km/h on the 401/QEW.  Other than that, 80% of my driving is on 100km/h backroad, and I generally get 24-27mpg.

(who would buy the sedan?)

Well, I would, for one.   

I found the hatch to be extremely heavy, too heavy for my wife, as a matter of fact.  Also, when a hatchback car has the same silhouette as a sedan, what do you gain by having the hatch?  The rear seats fold down in the sedan, so you all you lose is maybe three or four inches of passthough height.  I don't see a big advantage in there.

Actually the silhouette is a little different. The rear glass extends futher towards the rear spoiler leaving less of a trunk lid. Plus with the hatch you can take out the parcel tray and throw in things that won't fit through the opening when only the seats go down.

But the sedan is probably quieter....'specially in the winter when the rattles come out.

Yeah, I know it's different.  Not hugely, but enough room for some things, I guess.
